Bose QuietComfort Ultra headphones stand out for strong noise canceling, rich sound, and a foldable design that feels solid in hand. The low latency codec support also makes them a better fit for gaming and watching movies with tighter audio and video sync. Comfort is generally excellent, though long listening sessions can still cause fatigue, and the set is heavier than Sony rivals. Controls are the main drawback, with the button layout and gesture handling feeling less intuitive than simpler alternatives.
The Ultra can sound better than Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones for listeners who prioritize audio performance.
The Ultra supports low-latency codecs that can improve audio-video sync for gaming and TV or movie watching.
The Ultra can deliver slightly better active noise cancelling than Sony XM5 headphones while also feeling slightly more comfortable.
The Ultra can fold for easier storage and transport, which can help for travel use.
The Ultra can feel heavier than competing models, which may reduce comfort for long wear sessions.
The Ultra's gesture controls can feel wonky and the lack of physical buttons can make control less straightforward.
The Ultra's button layout can be hard to predict, with long presses sometimes shutting off or changing sources unexpectedly.
The Ultra can cause ear fatigue after wearing it for a whole day, especially on long-haul flights.
