This EliteBook 845 G8 is a business laptop refurb that stands out for solid build quality and upgrade potential, with Ryzen 5 PRO performance, 16GB of RAM, and room for much more storage and memory. The chassis is described as sturdy, and the machine works well as a backup or everyday work laptop once upgraded. The main drawback is battery condition, with reports ranging from about 76 to 85 percent health and some cosmetic wear like peeling display skin. It feels best suited to buyers who are comfortable with refurb tradeoffs and may keep it plugged in.
Common Questions (4)
No. Reported units commonly arrive with used batteries, with cycle counts ranging from about 40 to 500 and battery health around 80-85%, and some examples as low as 76-79%. Expect to keep it plugged in most of the time if battery life matters.
Battery life is often only acceptable rather than strong, with some units lasting about an hour unplugged when battery health is under 80%. The BIOS can reportedly show battery health and cycle count, which is useful for checking the condition right away.
These are typically business lease returns that are refurbished after about 2-4 years of use. Cosmetic refreshes may include a new keyboard, trackpad, and back skin, but the display skin can still peel and other wear may remain.
It has been listed repeatedly, and a similar Excellent/Refurbished unit was bought for $211 plus tax, so $239.99 is not especially aggressive. The laptop itself is still viewed as solid, with good build quality and acceptable battery life for a used business machine.
