This EliteBook 845 G8 is a business laptop refurb that stands out for solid build quality and upgrade potential, with Ryzen 5 PRO performance, 16GB of RAM, and room for much more storage and memory. The chassis is described as sturdy, and the machine works well as a backup or everyday work laptop once upgraded. The main drawback is battery condition, with reports ranging from about 76 to 85 percent health and some cosmetic wear like peeling display skin. It feels best suited to buyers who are comfortable with refurb tradeoffs and may keep it plugged in.

  • The EliteBook 845 G8 build quality is reported as good, with acceptable battery life for everyday use.

    zhaojunzhe100

  • Battery health can be checked in BIOS or via a battery health checker, which helps set expectations before relying on it.

    tk321

  • The refurb units are described as business lease returns that IT refurbishes for resale, which can explain the business-grade condition.

    Skull_Angel

  • Refurb units reportedly ship with used batteries, with cycle counts around 40-500 and battery health roughly 80-85%.

    FatSmurf

  • Battery health reportedly lands below 80%, and unplugged runtime may be around an hour, so it may need frequent plugging in.

    tk321

  • Cosmetic peeling on the display skin is reported, suggesting only superficial parts may have been replaced.

    npolite

  • Battery health reportedly arrives around 76%, and the deal can feel misleading when the battery is far from fresh.

Another used laptop listed incorrectly. Used battery. Probably still covered with some contact infection.

I host trivia 3 nights a week and my 3-year old Dell's keyboard went out so going with this as a replacement as the cost to replace the keyboard was more than this laptop cost 🤣
Just a thought but Keyboards are not too difficult to replace and the cost is usually low, I totally get needing a quick fix, but keep in mind this is a 5 year old laptop, besides it's good to have a spare. Good luck!Wink

FWIW, these laptops have been on SD numerous times since at least the fall of 2025. To me, this is not much of a deal as I bought mine, same exact laptop also from eBay/Newegg except it is Excellent/Refurbished (appears new), for $211+ inc. tax last November. Thus far, I am quite pleased.

Why do they have so many of these units? I bought mine like 2 yrs ago BNIB, upgraded to 64GB RAM and 2TB storage and happy ever since. Build quality is good, battery life is acceptable, and they are almost always in-stock here and there like no one's buying them.
Companies get these as business laptop leases. The leases average about 2-4 years and then the company's IT department returns them for new hardware.
