a pound of raw bacon typically weighs only about 3 to 5 ounces after being cooked. so this is actually about the equivalent of 1 to 1.5 pounds of bacon but they cooked it for you

Coming from a corporate foodservice background, this is very normal for fast food - I toured one of the plants that did the bacon for many fast food chains. Also worked at a Carls Jr when I was a kid, the bacon on double westerns comes in heat and serve paper trays (pre-cooked).

Well to be fair raw bacon will lose lots of moisture after its cooked around 70%. So this is more like 1lbs i would say if it was to be uncooked. It also depends how crispy you want it as very crispy would be more like 80% water/fat

It does say to refrigerate after opening. I guess this is on-brand for Hormel.

I have had the refrigerated ones from Trader Joe's and Costco, they are fine for how convenient they are. wonder how this compares.

The refrigerator pre-cooked stuff at Costco or Sam's is about the same price for the ounces. $12.50 for 10.5 oz. Not bad if you don't want to waste gas/time heading to the store

And they got to keep the bacon drippings on top of all that!

How will I cook my eggs without bacon drippings?
How about those awesome cookies made with ... you guessed it, bacon drippings?

Exactly. I wondered where they got "BaconUp" from. It's all the grease from selling pre-cooked bacon.
Bacon grease is a staple and desired by-product of raw bacon

Its fully cooked, think of all the water and grease in 1lb of uncooked bacon...
