Really though? I think you'd be more likely to find people that never even had EXPO enabled rather than people that tweaked enough to get a few hundred MHz out of RAM stable.

A year ago you could have these for about half of the price. Today this is pretty good price even for the AM4 and DDR 4.

Facebook marketplace people, fortunately there's still plenty of people looking to get rid of older system and don't know what they have.

Agreed, especially when most motherboards default to the non-EXPO speeds until the user explicitly go into the BIOS to enable the EXPO profile.

Am I wrong? but I believe the am5500 is pcie 3 only? I could use a am1600 upgrade on a b450 board..

I wouldn't be too worried about that because any gpu that's connected to pcie 3.0 that would pair with this cpu evenly you wouldn't experience much lack of performance because the cpu won't let you open the taps on the gpu much. So any gpu in the RTX 3070/4070 category would be top tier, any gpu above that would see cpu bottlenecks.

Yeah, the bigger issue with the 5500 is that it only has 16MB of L3 cache so it performs about the same as a Zen 2 3600

Newegg tactics: pair up something you dont need in order to sell the high price rare item. They did it back then with nvidia gpu.

If this were a 5600 It would actually be worth buying. The 5500 is gimped.

The RAM is a crapshoot. I have seen this particular SKU have Samsung B-Die albeit bad bins and Hynix CJR

The RAM alone in this deal makes it worth it.

I still remember forcing me to buy that horrible gigabyte PSU at crazy prices in order to get a 3070Ti

Unless you're buying a $500 GPU right now there is no difference in terms of gaming. Productivity will be hard to notice too.
