Makes great coffee consistently and shows off the difference in good fresh-roasted beans, easy to dial in your brew for each new batch (I bounce between Lavazza as a baseline, a sporadic Atlas Coffee sub, and local fresh roasters), will alert you for self-cleaning cycles, and having the grinder/tamper/brew/steam all right there is incredibly convenient in a compact space. If you want a huge upgrade to your daily coffee that'll leave espresso from the mega chain stores in the dust, this is well worth it for a rock-solid and well engineered tool.

We've had this exact one in the office for three years. Used three times daily, sometimes more. Would purchase again. Bought this model to keep the grind debris to a minimum.

Got mine 2 years ago now. It is the best thing ever this is a great deal. My only complaint is the porta filter I personally got a bottomless porta filter and it was a game changer.

Every commenter so far has 10 rep.

While I attest this is an excellent machine, Black Friday price was $500. Great product, not the slickest deal...but medium slick deal.

Black Friday price is listed in the history at $649. Are you saying that's an intentional mistake?

Impress models have the side lever for assisted tamping.

Was that the Impress model with tamping or a different model?

I don't see the "Impress" version for less than $650 during the holidays. I think you are confusing this model that tamps your coffee with the normal one that's been around a long time and does not tamp.

I would encourage anyone who wants to save some money to stop by TJ Maxx/marshalls. If it's in stock, they have the express and the pro for $500, and I believe the impress goes for $550. The only issue is it's a bit of a game of roulette but if you have stores nearby and you can stop in on your commute it may be worth your time. Personally I have the Pro, I love it. It's easy to use, heats up in seconds (great for my morning routine) and is extremely consistent.

Get ready for some serious frustration, it will take about a bag of coffee to practice until you'll get a decent cup of coffee, afterwards it's pure luck.
