These 27 gallon Sterilite totes are a sturdy, stackable storage option for basement, garage, or move prep, with the snap on lid and black and yellow design drawing comparisons to similar HDX and Costco bins. The price lands in the same range as recent sales at Home Depot, Menards, Target, Lowe's, and Costco, and the six pack with free shipping is repeatedly framed as competitive. The main caution is stacking compatibility, since lids and interlocking can vary by brand, and the lid itself can bend or warp under pressure. A practical pick for bulk storage if you are staying within the same tote system.
Shoppers comparing large totes by price per bin, because this size has been seen around $7 to $9 each and this six-pack lands below that.
Buyers who want the thickest, most durable tote available, because these are described as less durable than some competing brands and can crack more easily.
At $48 for six, this works out to $8 each delivered, which is below many regular prices around $8.85-$9 each and similar to sale pricing at Costco, Menards, Target, Lowe's, and Home Depot. Similar 6-packs have been seen at Walmart before, but this deal includes free shipping.
They stack reliably with identical Sterilite bins, but not all brands stack together and lid compatibility varies across brands. For mixing systems, stick to the same brand if you want predictable stacking and interchangeable lids.
They are not the same brand: this deal is Sterilite, Costco uses Greenmade, and Home Depot uses HDX/Edge Plastics. They may look similar and have similar capacity, but dimensions, durability, and lid/stacking compatibility can differ.
The bins are described as sturdy and suitable for basement or long-term storage, but the lid can bend or warp with minimal pressure. Handle them reasonably and they should hold up for storing items like decorations, gift bags, and hardware.
The lid can warp with light pressure, and some batches have been reported with a strong chemical smell. Other purchases were fine, so the issue appears batch-dependent rather than universal.
Looks like a solid deal for this size, all I could find on Slickdeals history was over $9 each for the cheapest ones. Costco has a similar set of 8 for $79 but with red lids, maybe during Black Friday
Everyday price at Home Depot and Menards is $9 each.
I picked up a few from Menards last week on sale for $7.
Sometimes people complain about the smell of HDX totes, though the last batch I bought during BF were fine (and I'm very sensitive to smells). Their biggest disadvantage is that what makes them so solid for stacking - the deep lid - also makes them (I suspect) slightly smaller than advertised, though it might just be perception as they tend to be a little taller than competitors' 27-gallon totes.
Sam's Club are Greenmade "Professional" and that seems to give them an edge in durability and flexibility over Costco (which are "regular" Greenmade). I think Walmart's are regular Greenmade, as well.
Lowe's (Project Source Commander) totes are considered the worst. They're thin and brittle.
If I were to "invest" in a system from scratch and you have a Sam's Club membership, I'd probably go that route. They seem to be the all-around better option and definitely go on sale more often than Home Depot.

I think that comment means the various brands don't always stack with other brands. I'm sure within each brand, all the identical containers stack.
This. Even though they look very similar, not all brands stack with each other so be careful when mixing. These types of bins are sold everywhere and are made by several different companies.

Costco ones are $8-9 each regular price in store and go on sale fairly often.
the home depot HDX is less wide and taller to reach those similar 27 gallons
the HDX has home depot accessories specifically made for it like walk out the door plastic racks (expensive), and a dolly cart made for this specific item (reasonable)
The competitor greenmade 27 gallon which Walmart, Costco, Sam's, Office Depot, Ace Hardware, etc routinely have for $9 to $16 a bin, with like half a dozen colors (often unique to the store you are buying it from, yet all made from the same factory and the lids are interchangeable), those are more durable and tough, and the greenmade lid is designed to have the ridges for the lid where you can lay an uncut 2 by 4 as a spacer if you want to reinforce the lid or one of the two ways to do custom shelving. Lastly less tall and a little wider, so a little bit different.

The bucket body feels sturdy for long-term basement storage use.
The totes can stack well with each other when using a matching set.
The deal price can land around six dollars per tote delivered.
The snap-on lid system can work well for planned storage rows.
The lids and stacking compatibility can vary across brands, so mixing may not stack.
The lid can bend and warp with minimal pressure during handling.
Some Sterilite totes may have a horrid chemical smell or feel less like thick hard plastic.
Sterilite plastic can feel stiffer and less flexible than Rubbermaid, which may affect durability.
