I used an e-gift card i bought from Target to renew mine. You have to go your account and, "redeem code" BEFORE you start shopping, then when you get to checkout it'll show up on the checkout page (you can't add it at checkout).

I got the offer but just have no interest in it. It's way overpriced and the only thing I want is essential tier so I can play online. For now I continue my protest by not purchasing. Essential shouldn't be more then $40 a year if it was actually priced fairly.

Thanks for mentioning this. I had canceled my subscription a few months ago and said no way am I paying $160 to renew. Checked today and had the $99.99 offer so decided to bite. I bought the gift cards from Costco and it worked perfectly.

Oh well did the Eneba deal to get $100 code for ~$81 - added to my PSN account and hoped for the best - no go for me. So my PS Premium is ending 2/19 - I hit cancel on my PS5 - if anything this post made me check my renewal account settings - that were set to automatic. So thanks for that OP :-). Since this is going on until end of February I will check this again after my account ends.
BTW I'm not too up on all this PSN account stuff. I was fortunate to get XBox Game Pass cheap until 2027. I have always had XBox Live and love it. I play primarily on XBox and love the online - MP features - and I sometimes take advantage of the free GP games.
So If I let my PS Premium lapse what do I lose -> obviously all the free games - but do I also lose the free PS+ games I downloaded over the years? If yes that's kind of lame. I can still play games - I just can't join a MP game - correct?
I will report back on whether this deal works after my account lapses. I'm as frustrated with PS, or any company offering deals for non-account holders. Isn't the goal to keep the sub money flowing and keeping existing account holders in the fold?????

EDIT: Please clarify - do I even need I suppose the lowest tier - Essential to play any game? I don't think so - right?

Let me break this down for you.

This is only for expired accounts. I had my account expire yessterday, and much to my delight this deal works. Lunar New Year if you click on the ps plus icon on the home screen.

3rd year in a row so best time to buy is now! Hopefully they do this again next year as it's a slickdeal indeed.
