Depends, some folks like polyester or need to wear it for whatever personal reasons, others prefer natural materials like cotton or wool.
If you're on your feet for long periods of time and have to wear socks, they will get damp because polyester isn't breathable and traps sweat.

Depends on use case. Others have mentioned, higher amounts of cotton are good for sweat absorbtion and dissipation. Polyester can be better (is for me) in preventing blisters during athletic activities like running, hiking, tennis etc.
