This onn 11 inch tablet stands out as a cheap Android 14 slate for basic streaming, reading, recipes, Home Assistant dashboards, and other light tasks. The 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 11 inch screen, and microSD support up to 1TB make it feel like a solid spec bump over older Fire tablets and aging Samsung or Kindle Fire models. The main drawbacks are that it is reported to be slow for heavier use, stuck on Android 14 with no updates, and the open box listing has raised security and bootloader concerns. The deal also drew repeated cancellation and refund problems, so it is best treated as a low cost experiment with return protection.

What? Google locked device? I'm really confused if that's a thing and how factory reset wouldn't fix it?

I understand smartphones and blacklist for stolen devices but that only applies for cellular connectivity. You absolutely can still use Wi-Fi on a blacklisted smartphone.

Why would Google be bricking Walmart tablets?

It's interesting seeing the people coming up with worse case scenarios for why people shouldn't buy a $30 tablet that has a 30-day return period that the seller pays for the return shipping on. It's a $30 tablet with little risk, if you want one and can use it, buy it. If not, don't buy, it's pretty simple.

Google Factory Reset Protection [google.com] (FRP)
A Google lock isn't the same as a blacklisted IMEI. You can't get through setup without the original Google account vs you can't get on the cell network.

Thus 388.

Although it has already dropped below 300.

Down to 60 at about 557am CST

and now 380 at 611am.

WTF is going on with that.

I agree with many of you - for $30, why not? Worst case I turn in for one of those "any device" offers for $200 off.
There were 270 when I purchased just a minute ago.

I'm in for one for basic surfing, kitchen recipes, etc. If a LineageOS ROM becomes available, that would be awesome!

Saw that last batch of 388 drop fast. They just added 460+ when those ran out.

Obviously. I wasn't aware Google lock was even a thing, they were very helpful with the link.

It is a nice system to prevent theft but ridiculous for people who don't remember to clear the device properly before returning or reselling it.
