If you are about to buy/try this, i would like to share my experience.
this is a different way of using the mouse vs a regular one. we move the entire mouse to move the cursor, but this one does not move. we use the ball to move the cursor. and buttons to select etc.. for browsing i am okay with this, but for work I see real difficulty as i habituated to the regular fast way of moving hand between keyboard and mouse, i felt little time taking process.
finally returned it. i think i bought around $25 as amazon resale "like new condition" to try this.

this type of mouse reversed my plantar fasciitis. yes it takes quite a while to get used to it, but I would not use any other type (tried verticals etc)

I've been using the M575 for years (using it right now, actually)...it's been great. I use a "traditional" mouse for work, so having something different for personal use I feel is helpful. It does take a little to get used to, but it very nice once you do.

This is exactly what a ball mouse is. And they have been around for decades. Those are often used when precision (like CAD) is required.

I always have used these, for gaming, everyday use, ever since the late 90's. It takes getting used to, especially if all you use is a normal mouse. I never had wrist issues thanks to this type of mouse. But the left clicker eventually will start to go bad and do double clicks after about 2 years or so, at least that was my experience. 3 years ago I bought the 100.00 rechargeable version and its been great, havnt had any left clicker issues as of yet. Charge lasts a long time, only thing that sucks is the rare times you need to recharge you need to plug it in like a phone charger to keep using it till it recharges.

Another benefit of this type of mouse is you don't need a full table to use it with a laptop, you can set it next to you or on your thigh when using a laptop on the go.

How do these compare to the vertical style? Do they have a similar effect versus traditional mice?
I actually have one of these and was thinking about getting a vertical mouse because the wrist position seems different and less prone to causing overuse injuries like plantar.
