That's the best way to do it. You can get one at IKEA or a butcher block from HD. Really, it's way better. If you're getting a dual motor stand, make the top as nice as the bottom. The tops they send with sit/stand desks are garbage... but I'm a carpenter and do the butcher block for clients all the time. I did just buy a cheap sit/stand desk from Walmart but wish this deal was available then, I would have done exactly what I'm preaching. 😅

Thank you for the insight. I see that this is a dual motor model, but not sure about the brand. Any insights on this one? Or do you have other recommendations?

TIA

Are there any similar deals for frames with the support beam that runs across both legs placed further back and not in the center?

I purchased this. Its nice. I bought table top from ikea. It was like 40 bucks. Only downside is the cables hang out everywhere. Will probably eventually anchor / screw them into the bottom of the table top

I have had this exact top for about a year and a half now. I had an issue that the control panel shorted out but the support from the company was good and got a replacement in about 10 days. Wish it had been faster, but for the price this has been a great stand. I bought a large butcher block from Menards and finished that as my top.

I've seen this go on sale for this price pretty often. I picked up two around October after doing my research, and the price was about the same then.

The company seems to stand behind their product with solid customer service and a good warranty. For what you pay, the quality is absolutely there.

Like others, I paired the base with a 5x30" acacia butcher‑block slab from Home Depot when it went on sale. I sanded it, added a light stain, then finished it with an oil‑based gloss poly thinned with mineral spirits. Three coats, then let it cure in the garage for a couple of weeks to let the smell dissipate.

Assembly of the base is extremely simple, and mounting it to the butcher block was just as easy. It includes all the hardware plus adhesive zip‑ties for cable management. If you spend two minutes routing the power supply and wires neatly underneath, the only visible cord will be the one going to the wall.

This was a fun, manageable project, but you will need some basic tools and skills. The final product costs more than the 3‑piece Amazon tops or the IKEA options, but the durability and appearance are on a completely different level. One spilled drink won't bubble or delaminate the surface like those cheaper tops eventually do.

Everyone who sees mine compliments them and usually asks how to make one themselves.

PS: If you're on the shorter side and buying this for better seated ergonomics, note that the lowest height will be around standard desk height of 30" (once you add a top). You'll still need a footrest to maintain proper posture. There may be other models that go lower if that's a priority.

How does it compare to another option from Costway: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Costwa.../400738547 ?
I got one on sale last October for $70, now it's $80. It fits me well, with a large table top I bought it from Ikea.

There's tons of cable organizers on Amazon that you can either screw on or clamp on your desk. Also, if you have access to a 3D printer, there's tons of options there too

I own this frame and it's excellent. I bought my tabletop from IKEA, a cable tray while at ikea too. No wires are visible or hanging unless you crawl under the desk. I even have a magnetic wire guide which is adhered to the back of one of the desk legs, so all wiring goes from the cable tray, down the leg, to the power outlet nicely organized.

Dual motor sounds fancy. Is it necessary?

Good price, just have to find a top for it separately.
