For a brief moment a few days ago, there was a 5090 for $600 on Amazon (2 in stock). Obviously a scam, but I ordered one anyway since Amazon doesn't charge until item ships and I'm covered by both Amazon and my CC.
I got the shipping notification, Yun Express, so it's from China as expected.
I'll let y'all know when a photo of the 5090 shows up at my door

You're getting a fanny pack or a bag of rocks. Thats what I have seen from others where they actually even received a package.

Interesting experiment. Wonder if you'll get rocks or an actual GPU with missing main chip and ram.

I pulled the trigger on a similar Amazon listing and had some issues with Amazon refunding. Took very long, and even then I had to contact Amazon twice after 14 days of no refund and explain the issue and share the buyers feedback. Might be my bad luck but I hardly ever return stuff so no clue why it was difficult. I receive an empty pencil case that was made of cloth... not even the case was good lol
Wamatek is a high-risk, unreliable seller — not a pure "gone with your money" scam, but exhibits multiple scam-adjacent behaviors that make buying a $1,910 RTX 5090 from them extremely dangerous.
Here's what the research across BBB, Reddit, Trustpilot, and other forums reveals:
BBB Rating: D−
Wamatek is not BBB accredited and holds a D− rating, the second-lowest possible [1]. The BBB explicitly cites failure to respond to 5 complaints filed against the business [1]. The business is registered as Akibaz LLC in Eden Prairie, MN, owned by Vivi M. Wandji, and has been operating since 2018 [1]. Having a physical storefront makes them not a completely fake entity, but the rating signals serious accountability failures.
What Reddit Says
Multiple GPU-focused subreddits have flagged Wamatek repeatedly. On r/gpu, the top-voted response to "Is this legit?" was simply "No" [2]. A user on r/pcbuilding confirmed ordering a 5070 Ti, being told it was backordered, waiting a month, and ultimately receiving a cancellation and refund — the GPU never shipped [3]. On r/PcBuildHelp, a buyer described making 20 phone calls with no response before finally getting a refund, calling it the "worst experience I've ever had with a company" [4]. On r/nvidia, a user reported placing a GPU order and never receiving a confirmed shipment link to any actual unit in stock [5].
The Core Scam Pattern
The behavior follows a recognizable bait-and-switch/phantom inventory pattern:
Advertise high-demand GPUs at below-MSRP prices (e.g., the RTX 5090 listed at $1,910 vs. $2,909 retail) [6]
Accept payment, generate an order number, and string customers along with vague "backorder" notices
Cancel the order weeks later and issue a refund — no GPU ever arrives
In at least one BBB-documented case, fraudulent credit card charges of $3,000 appeared days after a Wamatek purchase and refund [7]
That last point is the most alarming. One BBB reviewer reported never having experienced credit card fraud in two years, then was hit with $3,000 in fraudulent charges just days after transacting with Wamatek [7]. This raises the possibility that payment data may be harvested or mishandled.
Trustpilot & Review Analysis
Trustpilot shows a deeply split profile — glowing 5-star reviews alongside furious 1-star reviews [8]. A YouTube investigation noted the split is suspicious and characteristic of review manipulation, where some positive reviews are fabricated or incentivized [8]. Multiple reviewers on BBB report receiving wrong items, used/refurbished products sold as new, and phones still linked to previous owners' accounts [7].
Why the Shop App Listing Feels Trustworthy (But Isn't)
Wamatek appearing on Shop.app/Shop Pay gives a false sense of security [9]. Shop Pay processes payments legitimately, but it does not vet seller inventory accuracy or product authenticity [10]. The $115 discount promotion on orders over $230 is a classic hook to drive volume through a platform with buyer credibility [10].
Bottom Line
Do not purchase the RTX 5090 from Wamatek. The most likely outcome based on documented patterns is that you will wait weeks, receive no GPU, eventually get a refund — and potentially have your payment information exposed. For a nearly $2,000 purchase, buy from Best Buy, B&H Photo, Newegg, or directly from NVIDIA/ASUS where inventory is real and consumer protections are robust [3].

I'm honestly hoping for a 10 year old GPU in a 5090 box. or something even trickier like an old GPU with a 5090 sticker and a fake bios? that would probably be asking too much from lazy scammers though.
My money's on a photo of the box, not even the actual box. Rocks are heavy and cost more to ship

We buy (and return) a lot of things from Amazon and they probably consider us high spenders. I've never had any issues with returns, recently I ordered 10 pairs of pants to try them on and kept only 4. Sometimes even items that clearly said "no returns due to hazardous materials", when I told customer service that I wasn't satisfied, they refunded the whole thing and let me keep it. I've never tried to take advantage of that though, I'm sure their algorithms catch on quick.
One good trick to know though, sometimes bulky items need to be dropped off at UPS instead of Wholefoods, and sometimes they have a fee of $6-8. If you go through the AI chat though, they'll always waive the fee.

Seems legit. Let us know how it works out OP.

They also make it a pain to refund/cancel. Not worth it
