LG's 45 inch 5K2K OLED stands out as a huge curved gaming monitor that feels deeply immersive, especially in shooters and other fast games. The 5120 by 2160 panel delivers sharp detail, and the newest firmware reportedly fixes earlier issues while reducing white balance and brightness shifts on mostly white work screens. It also works well for mixed Mac work and gaming, and the curve makes the screen feel unreal. The main catch is the demanding resolution, which can push even high end GPUs and may be awkward on consoles. It is a strong fit if your PC can drive it and you want maximum immersion.
Buyers who can realistically hit the deal price with LG coupons/cashback because multiple commenters report getting it around ~$1000-$1100 after coupon + Capital One Shopping cash back (and even a brief coupon code).
PC gamers who want maximum immersion from a wall-mounted setup because the curved screen fills your field of view in games like BF6 and the newest firmware fixed their only issues.
People playing Siege/BF6 on a high-end PC because the huge curved display "feels unreal," and commenters say to buy it if your PC can handle the performance demands.
Mac users who also game on the same display because one commenter uses it as a work monitor on a Mac and games on it, noting only occasional white-balance/brightness shifts on mostly-white spreadsheet screens that happen less after updates.
Owners upgrading from a 49" Odyssey G9 who disliked the 1440x height because one commenter regretted the G9 and says they now want this monitor instead.
High-end GPU owners (e.g., RTX 5080) who want to run demanding games at this resolution because a commenter reports it handles Arc Raiders and BF6 "like a champ" and praises the 5K detail plus curve immersion.
Gamers who expect to run UE5 titles at high settings without compromises because commenters say UE5 would struggle greatly and that the higher pixel count would likely force lower effective resolution with DLSS (which they say usually looks bad).
People who care a lot about crisp text for productivity because commenters note OLED text is generally less crisp than other monitors and that lower DPI can make text less sharp.
Buyers who don't want to pay near full OLED pricing because one commenter says it still feels too pricey even with Best Buy open-box units around $1200, especially compared with their much cheaper Samsung QLED experience.
Buyers who want "decent framerates" without a top-tier GPU because commenters question whether this 5120x2160 resolution would require at least an RTX 5080 to play at a decent framerate.
Yes, this 5120x2160 panel is demanding, and a 5080-class GPU is reported to handle games like Arc Raiders and BF6 well. A 3090 can work, but newer UE5-heavy games may need lower settings or DLSS to stay smooth.
Around $1300 is described as the normal price. Buying directly from LG with coupons and cashback can reportedly bring it down to about $1000 or a little over, and one purchase came to $1290 on LG's site.
Yes, the 45-inch curved OLED is described as extremely immersive, especially in shooters like BF6 and Siege. The huge screen and curve can fill your field of view and make games feel much more like being inside them.
Yes, it is used as a Mac work monitor and for gaming on a 5090. On mostly white spreadsheet screens it can sometimes shift white balance or brightness, but that behavior reportedly happens much less after firmware updates.
It is described as better than the Samsung G9, with one owner saying the G9 is terrible by comparison. Another drawback of the G9 is the 1440-pixel height, which some buyers regret after switching to this wider 5K2K format.
Not really, because the 5120x2160 resolution is unsupported on consoles and would require awkward stretching workarounds. It is mainly being discussed as a PC monitor, with console use treated as a poor fit.
I do software dev and a lot of documentation and have 2 40" monitors now, I was wondering, can someone tell me if the lettering is crisp. I know it's subjective. I currently have a dell 4025qw and lg40wp95c.
seems to be a little less dpi but 139 vs 125, not sure how much of a difference that'll make.
There's a good amount of people who'd buy this lol.I bought this monitor recently on the lg website for $1290, super happy with the purchase and I can't wait to play Forza 6 and GTA6 on it.
Surely you don't intend to use this on consoles? Unsupported resolution without insane stretching workarounds. GTA6 is still a couple years out for us PC peasants.
Looks cool but needs to be half this price. My peasant-grade Samsung 43" 4K QLED was under $400. Yeah this OLED should look better, but a thousand bucks better?
Best Buy has some open box ones for $1200 or less.... still too pricey for me but a little better. You know those open box ones are from dudes who bought it, brought it home, and their wives flipped out when she saw it and made them return it.

Depends on what you're playing of course, but anything UE5 would struggle greatly. The 3090 struggles even at regular 4K which has 8mil pixels, and that's with DLSS performance. This monitor has 20% more pixels so you'd be looking at a lower res with DLSS, which usually sucks.
For gaming you might be better off with last year's 39" OLEDs, which are 1440p and around $750, but I heard text isn't that great.
Wish I got this over the 49" odyssey G9.... Whatever ur girl says, there is such a thing as too wide and not tall enough.
I regret getting the 49" Odyssey G9. I'll be in the process of selling it because I don't care for the 1440x height. Now that I know better, this thing I WANT

~$1300 is the normal price for this monitor. If you purchase directly from LG with a discount coupon + CB deal you can get it for $1000 or lower.
Only once it hit $1000 and that was a coupon mistake on LG's part and many if most of those orders got cancelled. From Partner store with 15% coupon you can get it for around $1100

It's generally widely regarded that oled text is not as crisp as other monitors. And with being less DPI as well, I think the lg40wp95c is better for productivity work. Hopefully this gen's tandem oled and RGB layout would fix this but they're not out yet. Look at rtings reviews for the two monitors to compare.

Got it for $1250.1 pre-tax through the LG store using a 10% coupon yesterday. Had 17% CB through capital one shopping. So treating that as cash (despite it very much not being cash), the total was $1037.58. If you browse the LG partner store in the capital one shopping or just online with the app active, would not be surprising if capital one shopping sends you some ridiculous discounts. LG partner store also from time to time has a pop up offering a 10% coupon if you sign up for text messages. Not sure if it would stash with cash back.

Super immersive when you have your whole field of view taken up by it in BF6.
Newest firmware fixes my only issues with it.
