LG's 45 inch 5K2K OLED stands out as a huge curved gaming monitor that feels deeply immersive, especially in shooters and other fast games. The 5120 by 2160 panel delivers sharp detail, and the newest firmware reportedly fixes earlier issues while reducing white balance and brightness shifts on mostly white work screens. It also works well for mixed Mac work and gaming, and the curve makes the screen feel unreal. The main catch is the demanding resolution, which can push even high end GPUs and may be awkward on consoles. It is a strong fit if your PC can drive it and you want maximum immersion.
Buyers who can realistically hit the deal price with LG coupons/cashback because multiple commenters report getting it around ~$1000-$1100 after coupon + Capital One Shopping cash back (and even a brief coupon code).
PC gamers who want maximum immersion from a wall-mounted setup because the curved screen fills your field of view in games like BF6 and the newest firmware fixed their only issues.
People playing Siege/BF6 on a high-end PC because the huge curved display "feels unreal," and commenters say to buy it if your PC can handle the performance demands.
Mac users who also game on the same display because one commenter uses it as a work monitor on a Mac and games on it, noting only occasional white-balance/brightness shifts on mostly-white spreadsheet screens that happen less after updates.
Owners upgrading from a 49" Odyssey G9 who disliked the 1440x height because one commenter regretted the G9 and says they now want this monitor instead.
High-end GPU owners (e.g., RTX 5080) who want to run demanding games at this resolution because a commenter reports it handles Arc Raiders and BF6 "like a champ" and praises the 5K detail plus curve immersion.
Gamers who expect to run UE5 titles at high settings without compromises because commenters say UE5 would struggle greatly and that the higher pixel count would likely force lower effective resolution with DLSS (which they say usually looks bad).
People who care a lot about crisp text for productivity because commenters note OLED text is generally less crisp than other monitors and that lower DPI can make text less sharp.
Buyers who don't want to pay near full OLED pricing because one commenter says it still feels too pricey even with Best Buy open-box units around $1200, especially compared with their much cheaper Samsung QLED experience.
Buyers who want "decent framerates" without a top-tier GPU because commenters question whether this 5120x2160 resolution would require at least an RTX 5080 to play at a decent framerate.
Yes, this 5120x2160 panel is demanding, and a 5080-class GPU is reported to handle games like Arc Raiders and BF6 well. A 3090 can work, but newer UE5-heavy games may need lower settings or DLSS to stay smooth.
Around $1300 is described as the normal price. Buying directly from LG with coupons and cashback can reportedly bring it down to about $1000 or a little over, and one purchase came to $1290 on LG's site.
Yes, the 45-inch curved OLED is described as extremely immersive, especially in shooters like BF6 and Siege. The huge screen and curve can fill your field of view and make games feel much more like being inside them.
Yes, it is used as a Mac work monitor and for gaming on a 5090. On mostly white spreadsheet screens it can sometimes shift white balance or brightness, but that behavior reportedly happens much less after firmware updates.
It is described as better than the Samsung G9, with one owner saying the G9 is terrible by comparison. Another drawback of the G9 is the 1440-pixel height, which some buyers regret after switching to this wider 5K2K format.
Not really, because the 5120x2160 resolution is unsupported on consoles and would require awkward stretching workarounds. It is mainly being discussed as a PC monitor, with console use treated as a poor fit.
Surely you don't intend to use this on consoles? Unsupported resolution without insane stretching workarounds. GTA6 is still a couple years out for us PC peasants.
There is no way that this monitor doesn't know how to center a 4K image with black bars on the side. The vertical resolution should give a perfect pixel 3840x2160 image without interpolation.
Got it for $1250.1 pre-tax through the LG store using a 10% coupon yesterday. Had 17% CB through capital one shopping. So treating that as cash (despite it very much not being cash), the total was $1037.58. If you browse the LG partner store in the capital one shopping or just online with the app active, would not be surprising if capital one shopping sends you some ridiculous discounts. LG partner store also from time to time has a pop up offering a 10% coupon if you sign up for text messages. Not sure if it would stash with cash back.
Could you share where you got the 10% coupon from? The one I received from email sign up excludes monitor.

I don't trust LG online store after I ordered an on sale monitor and got nothing, no email on delivery, no email response even after multiple inquiries. Had to file a dispute with my cc.
I havent had an external monitor in years so excuse my ignorance. Can I drive this with my lenovo thinkpad p16s gen 2 laptop or do I need more of a gaming rig like a legion ?

There was a coupon code COWBOYS10 active for a period yesterday, expired now.
The other 10% coupon offer I saw was one that would be provided if you signed up for texts via your phone number. I didn't sign up, so I cannot say if it excludes monitors. Think it was a random-ish pop up on the LG partner site. Think i also saw a 5% offer pop up.
A new model with upscaling capability (they are saying if your g card runs a game at 1080p monitor will blow it up to 5k) is coming soon. If their claim is true. I would buy that instead. Also new model has higher PPI for productivity
This monitor is amazing...I'm using a 5080 GPU and it handles Arc Raiders and BF6 like a champ. 5K resolution is high detail and the curve does immerse you.

is there a new one dropping this year? I know they have a smaller 39" 5k2k coming.
There is a 39" coming out this year with higher PPI and AI that upscales the image to 5k..... pretty much that TV's do now which is upscale signals to 4K. We will have to wait and see which is basically what is keeping me from buying this 45 in monitor.

For those with LP Partner site access, the monitor is currently $1,349.99 on the LP Partner site, as well. I confirmed that the 10% coupon they offer when you sign up for text messages (offer received via random pop-up when browsing the LP Partner website) works for this monitor (in cart, prior to actually checking out), bringing the pre-tax total to $1,214.99.
Received the coupon code almost immediately after signing up for text messages, it expires within 30 days of receipt.

I was curious about this, too. I have the 45'' version before this, and they silently "refreshed" it, and it was way better. 2024 model had a better panel than the 2023. Only way to know is by the model number.

Super immersive when you have your whole field of view taken up by it in BF6.
Newest firmware fixes my only issues with it.

The monitor can handle demanding games well with a high-end GPU like an RTX 5080.
The LG store purchase path can reduce the effective price using coupons and Capital One Shopping cashback.
The 5120x2160 resolution may require very high-end GPUs to maintain decent gaming framerates.
Using the monitor on consoles may be difficult because the resolution can be unsupported and may require extreme stretching workarounds.
