My Amex and BofA cards both had $20 statement credit offer with minimum $25 spend on TT.

I bought TT download deluxe using Fidelity 25% discount for $52, got $20 statement credit with Amex.
I plan to use state e-file for $25 with BofA custom rewards card and get anyone $20 credit then.

With AMEX do you have to follow the affiliate link? Because that removes the Fidelity discount.

No, both Amex and Chase instructions tells you to use their affiliate link, but it worked when I used the Fidelity link to purchase. Few others on Bogleheads had a similar experience.

Thank you! Can confirm that the Amex $20 off just posted even when not following the affiliate link and stacking the fidelity discount.

It works if you use it online to buy the desktop version at https://turbotax.intuit.com/perso...-download/

Got the fidelity discount + $20 back from Amex

When do you pay $25 for the state e-file to get the additional $20 from BofA? Thought 1 state was included with Deluxe for free..

With TT Desktop, state is included but state e-file is not. You have to pay $25 for state e-file (except for NY state, where e-file is free), or print out the returns and mail it via postal mail if you don't want to pay that.

Best yet from chase, 30% off using their freedom card. Might as well invest in jepq for next year's taxes to offset the rest of the 70.

I went through the Chase offer link and signed into my TurboTax account. It forces me to use the Online version. Clicking on the desktop URL above takes back to Online.

I just wasted hours on the stupid ONLINE edition:
  • It failed to get all information from my last year's return (used Deluxe desktop) and I had to manually find and enter tons of stuff (like AMT);
  • For capital loss (Schedule D) and 1099-B, only Premium online version can support it ($120), but Deluxe Desktop supports it already ($55 at costco)

Intuit is selling Deluxe Desktop at $80, with this 30% discount, still can't beat Costco. What a waste of time!

[Update] even better, I compared the results, Premium Online version missed ~$1600 tax refund compared to the Deluxe Desktop version.

So I ended up checking around for offers because I finally decided to efile today.

All State, if you are with them for car insurance, they have an email that went out on March 31st for 20% off.

This is what I would have paid without discounts, $294.65 including taxes and that $69 charge for efiling state.

With that 20% off, it only applied to the Expert Assist Premium, so it brought the Expert Assist Premium part down to $167.20 from $209.

On top of that, I used my Chase Freedom card offers for 30% cash back. So I am getting $20 back.

With the $69 state charge and taxes, I end up paying like $230.37

But I just discovered that I had a small window of time on March 31st that, had I filed then, TurboTax would also not have raised the price by $41. The email that stated this came in at 12:20 p.m. on March 31st. The price at that time was $168. The email with All state came in at 12:02 p.m. So if 20% off was applied then, the price would have been discounted to $134.40 and then $69.00 added for state filing (It is always $69, regardless of when you file on or after March 31st). With taxes, it would have come out to $215.58.

Then, I would have been able to take off another 30% off and receive that as cashback ($20). All in all, I would have paid $215.58-20 = $195.58.
