Wouldn't pay $5 for this thing. 4gb memory isn't enough to watch youtube. Hell, it isn't even enough to open chrome with 2 tabs. Disappointment in a box. Double your budget and get a machine you can actually use.

This is garbage ewaste, at least the similarly priced ThinkPad C13 Yoga from 4 years ago now had a Ryzen 3 processor and is still better in every way compared to this. You're just paying for a bad time now.

People who haven't used a Chromebook, have the loudest opinions about Chromebooks lol. 4GB on ChromeOS is NOT the same as 4GB on Windows 11, which yes, on WIndows is not usable. 2-3 tabs on ChromeOS at default, it's fine. Go in settings and DISABLE the Google Play Store, and you immediately add 1-1.2GB back to the OS allowing you to work with 2-5 tabs fine, all on 4GB of RAM.
Is this for the people who troll on Slickdeals wanting to get 87% off a laptop? No. Is this a "give it to your parents to pay bills, search and watch Youtube and NOT come to you when they click the wrong thing and now have a virus on it and blame you since you gifted it to them?" Yes.
I will say, THIS specific one is not an amazing deal. When the one with the 1080p IPS 300nits 100% sRGB screen hits like $159-$169, THAT is the one to get. Also for those who actually know about Chromebooks and not just whaffing about... this gets updates through June 2033.

I still have a Toshiba Chromebook with only 2G RAM. I installed Linux by following instructions from YouTube. It still functions well, except the battery is very weak by now. Chromebook can work on 2G RAM, and it is fine with 4G RAM in most cases.
I would buy a new Chromebook with only 4G RAM now, if I can install Linux on it. Not every Chromebook allows you to install Linux.
