This cordless caulk and adhesive gun stands out for making long caulking jobs faster and easier, especially on baseboards, tubs, sinks, bay windows, and flashing work. It lays a steady bead, reduces hand cramps, and helps with thick sealants and adhesives that are hard to push by hand. The main tradeoffs are speed control and size, since the lowest setting can still feel fast, there can be a lag before it engages, and the longer body is awkward in tight spaces. It seems best for bigger DIY jobs or thick materials rather than occasional small touchups.
Common Questions (5)
It works well for larger caulking jobs like baseboards, tubs, sinks, bay windows, and bathtub caulking, and it helps lay a consistent bead without hand cramps. It is especially useful when you have a lot of caulking to do, but it can feel long and awkward in tighter spaces.
The lowest setting can still be fast for many applications, so it takes some getting used to and may require moving the tip quickly along the joint. It is better suited to larger runs than tiny touch-up work.
It can handle thick sealants and adhesives, especially materials like PL 3X and mixing-tube products that are hard to push by hand. It is less ideal for larger 28 oz tubes, and one report says the rod bent after short use with thicker materials.
It is worth it if you do enough caulking to want less hand strain and more consistent beads, but it may be steep at around $50 if you only use it once or twice. It is best as an occasional-use tool that pays off on bigger DIY projects.
There can be a 15-20 second lag between pressing the trigger and the mechanism engaging, which makes speed control harder. That delay is part of why it can feel easier on larger, slower jobs than on precise small ones.

Curious if the electric ones allow you to feather the trigger or if it's all one speed. Might save some hand cramps, or might make a mess when you need to do detail work.
I will use it when I have a lot of caulking to do, and it saves from getting hand cramps and having uneven caulk blobs or spaces where you would normally have to reset the ratchet trigger on a normal caulk gun. You get the gun pressure dialed in with your pace, and it lays a constant even bead for the whole tube. It also comes in handy for some really thick sealants and adhesives that require a lot of pressure to get flowing out of the tube.
This isn't a DIY or Pro specific tool, I can see using it and have used it for both, and it works well. It is an occasional-use tool, as I use a standard caulk gun 95%+ of the time. But when you need this, you will be glad to have it.
TIP: for best results, always store caulk standing straight up to avoid bubbles in the tube popping out halfway through a perfectly laid bead.

Edit: the Dewalt has a 6 speed dial. But also more than double the cost of this. Milwaukee has a variable speed trigger so is probably the best of the lot. Too bad I don't have the Milwaukee batteries.

nvm volume is probably your concern.
