This Ryobi 18V One Plus 7 and 1 quarter inch compound miter saw is a lightweight cordless trim saw best suited to small, portable jobs. It gets clean, precise cuts on casing, baseboards, shoe molding, and other small trim, especially with a better 40 tooth blade. The cordless design is handy for jobsite work or cutting lumber in a parking lot, but the cut capacity is limited and it struggles with larger stock, hardwood trim, and heavier 2 by material. Power and battery runtime also look modest, so it fits specific trim tasks rather than general use.
Trim carpenters working off-grid, because the cordless design avoids needing an outlet or generator for small trim cuts.
Homeowners doing small casing and baseboard jobs, because it stays light and portable while making clean, precise cuts on trim.
DIYers who only need occasional small-project cuts, because it handles shoe molding and similar light trim work adequately.
Drivers hauling long lumber in a small car, because it can be used to cut boards in the parking lot before loading them.
Shoppers who need a reliable reconditioned tool, because factory reconditioned units can arrive damaged, used, or missing parts.
General-purpose woodworkers cutting larger stock, because it struggles with 1x6 and bogs down on most 2x material.
Buyers expecting a powerful all-around saw, because the motor can feel weak and hardwood trim can blow out.
Finish carpenters needing exact sliding cuts, because the slide can be misaligned by 1-2 degrees and the fence only lets you choose which edge to align.

The ryobi tools were just used returns and damaged tools resold without checking if they still worked properly.
Avoid factory reconditioned and buy blemished only. Those have been new or like new, and not a single issue with them so far.
Doesn't look like it. Typically they say "Hybrid" in the description if they can do both.

They do have free returns for damaged or non working tools if you contact them within 7 days.
In my case, when I contacted them, they said my only option was to return the miter saw for a full refund. I chose to keep it because I didn't need precise cuts for framing and my wife wanted the job done, lol. Later I fixed the fence myself.
As for the planer, I had to spend around an extra 50 bucks to replace a couple of missing nuts and a badly damaged infeed table. Luckily it was still cheaper than buying a new one or a used one from marketplace.
This was between 2024 and 2025. I haven't purchased anything from them since then. Maybe their quality control has improved?

Pros: Light, small, and portable. Not just cordless, but also easy to move around for quick small jobs. Works well for window or door casing (pine, PVC, or mdf) or most baseboards. Small trim in general.
Cons: Limited cutting capacity. I really wish they would have gone with an 8" blade or made this slide just a little bit. I've run into situations where even straight cuts are lacking. I think you can barely cut a standard 4-5/8" door jamb IIRC, but that's about the limit. A 1x6 is not possible, even with a straight cut. The power also can't really handle hardwood trim without serious blowout, and bogs down when cutting most 2x material (2x4, 2x3, etc)
This is for specific use cases in my opinion. If you are looking for a general use saw, get something a little bigger or sliding, and something with a bit more power. I don't regret my purchase because I do use it fairly often, but for most jobs I use my 10" sliding saw.
