Community Reviews
ThermoMaven P1 is a wireless meat thermometer that stands out for taking the guesswork out of grilling and oven cooks, with the app showing remaining time so you do not have to hover by the grill. The five sensors and base display of the lowest sensor temperature make it easier to track the center of the meat, and the probe passed ice bath and boil tests. The promo code worked after a few tries for some, though the Amazon app required tapping the arrow in the promo box. Range claims and long term probe reliability drew skepticism, and the listed price appears to have risen for some carts.
Common Questions (4)
The code can still work, but it may take a couple tries. In the Amazon app, tap the arrow in the promo code box to apply it before pressing Continue; otherwise the discount may not trigger.
It can take a lot of the guesswork out of cooking, and the app's countdown/remaining-time estimate helps you plan without standing by the grill or griddle. It also has 5 sensors, with the lowest sensor temperature shown on the base so you can check the critical reading quickly.
It is better suited to oven use and lower-heat cooking than very hot grills. The ThermoMaven is listed at a 572°F max external temperature, and one comparison notes grill areas can exceed that near the grates.
Some buyers got it to apply at about $21.44 total, but the base price can change and one report says it rose to $60, pushing the net price closer to $40.

Cooked all of my life by time and touch, so never really understood the need for a probe. If a steak, pork butt or brisket has been on the heat a sufficient amount of time and feels done by lifting it up or pressing it, it's probably probably ready to pull off the heat. Never understood the need to cook to temp, other than for under-cooked food poisoning concerns in pork or chicken.
Anyway, all that to say, the one time the Meater probe saved me was when my pellet smoker developed a pellet feeder tunnel and it quit cooking in the middle of the night. With the probe's app I was able to tell how long the meat made it into the cook and the peak temperature before the pellets quit feeding the heat. So I was able to save $125+ of meat and finish the cook with confidence.
That is the only reason I'll use a probe anymore. Treager pellet smokers are the most over-rated cooking device ever made, but that's a story for another thread. Other than a backup for a pellet smoker, I think a wireless probe is a waste of money and simply adds to needless worry.
