I was about to buy this, then I remembered my miter has a "shadow" line already.

The saw has to be spinning to activate the laser... so how exactly do you safely position a piece?

These were designed for radial arm saws. They're kind of terrible for miter saws.

I imagine this is just for show on a radial arm saw.

They're a lot more rigid than the average miter saw and you're usually bringing your piece up to a fixed block for controlled cuts.

With how much they cost, might as well get a CNC.

Those are no that accurate. I bought bunch of those years ago. The battery doesn't last, and you have to calibrate the laser because there is a distance between the laser and the blade. if I remember correctly, it doesn't fit typical power saw arbor.

I've been using this on my Bosch 12" compound miter saw for almost 3 years. Still on original batteries and never had issues with it "moving". I'd absolutely buy it again. It is so much nicer and faster than not having one. A laser isn't intended to be perfect on any saw. Learning how it works with yours is essential through testing, just like you should do with an accessory on any tool.
