Would it be an overkill for general home use?

I don't think so. I've been eyeing this for a while since I already have 60v batteries and most reviews say that need to replace chain oil before replacing battery which is nice.

16" bar is a bit much unless you deal with really large trees. The chainsaw I use the most is my Dewalt 12" using 20v batteries because I have plenty and it's compact and small.

But if you have nothing, 60v and size should be good for all needs.

Got the 12" and love it. Don't have to worry if it will start. Safer and way less noise than gas. Also great if you already have these batteries. A single 3 ah battery is not enough for this saw.

Not overkill, and Dewalt is built to last.

Much better battery: B.A.L. Tools DCCS670X1 with 9ah battery and charger on eBay for $259 + S&H ($29.57 for my zip but they also offer free pickup if you are near Spring Hill FL)

I've got a milwaukee that I use a 5AH battery on and definately go through several charges before I have to add chain oil, so I highly doubt this woot 3ah battery is going to last longer than your chain oil X)

I never can open any woot link on my iPhone or iPad. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

It's 3ah @ 60v but 9ah @ 20v
