I think this maybe the lowest price this saw has ever been. I bought mine used a year and a half ago the $400 and it is a great saw. Having the XPS shadow line makes for very accurate cut. The higher price over the DWS799 (without the XPS) is well worth the higher price. A few things to be aware of...1) the dust collection is horrible even by miter standards. The dust bag is completely useless. If you plan to use it inside, definitely by one of the aftermarket dust collection modifications. I have the one from Shop Nation and it makes a huge difference although, I worry that is made of plastic and if the blade happens to hit it, I'm sure it will explode and shoot sharp plastic bits everywhere. As a result, I wear a full face shield when using it, 2) I use it my garage when the weather is bad out and the outlet I have is on a 15 amp breaker. If I have anything else plugged in except the lights, it will trip the breaker on start-up. Even with everything else unplugged except the lights one, it still trips the breaker sometimes. I have to run an extension cord to the basement to run my dust extractor when I use it. I'd highly recommend having it on a 20 amp breaker. I plan to have one installed in garage, 3) the stock throat plate has a large opening and if you have a small cutoff, it can bind up in the slot and kick back at you. Make or buy some zero clearance MDF throat plates before using the saw or buy Fast Cap's zero clearance tape (if you use the Fast Cap tape, you'll need to sand down the stock throat plate or the tape will sit proud of the table and throw off your cuts), and 4) this saw is heavy and you will either want it in a dedicated miter station (the sliding rail sit out very far, you will have to made the miter station with this in mind) or on a rolling miter stand that can be stored with the saw attached. I have the Bosch Zero Gravity stand, which I think is the best miter stand on the market for heavy saws. I think the Rigid is also good, but I would avoid the Dewalt hydraulic miter stand. With the modifications I mentioned, this is an excellent saw that will last for many years and can take some serious abuse.
