Old but decent processor. Can upgrade the RAM to 64GB but that would more than double the price these are selling for. Newegg has 32GBx2 packs that would fit this for $439.59 (https://www.newegg.com/crucial-64...6820156242). SSD is replaceable. Looks like an okay deal for average users just browsing the web and doing light work from the sofa.
Dell offered a backlit keyboard with this but Newegg doesn't list if these come with it so my guess is it isn't backlit. Battery probably won't last more than 3 or 4 hours. No touchscreen.
But it's 200 bucks.

I will take it if it's 12th Gen CPU. Intel CPU from 8th to 11th Gen, has no significant improvement, roughly is only around 15% improvement. It's a joke for 4 generation newer CPU.

I currently use the 5450 for work and I really like it a lot, the reliable and ux-friendly latitude. the 5450 holds up well on battery use and if the 5421 does bout 6hours, that's fairly decent to get half day's work. I thought this high value compromise being refurb for the quality product, though this is a 90-day warranty...

Dell Latitude 5421 vs 5450: Key Differences and Recommendations
The Dell Latitude 5450 (released December 2023) is a newer, significantly more powerful business laptop compared to the Dell Latitude 5421 (released January 2021). The 5450 features an Intel Core Ultra 5 135U processor (12 cores), 16GB DDR5 RAM, Wi-Fi 6E, HDMI 2.1, and a PCIe Gen 4 SSD, offering a substantial performance boost over the 5421's Intel Core i5-11500H (6 cores), 8GB DDR4 RAM, Wi-Fi 6, and PCIe Gen 3 SSD.
  • Performance: The 5450 is approximately 18% faster overall, with vastly superior single-core and workstation performance. The 5421's Intel Iris Xe graphics are outdated compared to the 5450's Intel Graphics.
  • Portability & Build: Both are similar in size and weight (approx. 3.3 lbs / 1.5 kg), but the 5450 has a slightly thicker chassis (21.0 mm vs. 20.9 mm).
  • Battery Life: The 5450 offers improved battery life (up to 8–10 hours under moderate use), though not dramatically better than the 5421.
  • Value: The 5450 is 31% cheaper than the 5420 (a similar model), offering better value with modern specs and a newer platform.
  • Drawbacks: Some users report persistent fan noise and overheating issues on the 5450, despite hardware replacements. The 5421 is known for reliability but lacks modern connectivity and CPU efficiency.
The Dell Latitude 5450 delivers significantly better battery life than the 5421, despite having a smaller 54 Wh battery compared to the 5421's 64 Wh battery.
  • Latitude 5450: Achieves up to 7:47 hours (MobileMark 30) and 9:07 hours (Procyon Battery Benchmark) due to the power-efficient Intel Core Ultra 5 135U processor.
  • Latitude 5421: Offers around 6:34 hours (MobileMark) and 7:48 hours (Procyon), limited by the older 11th Gen Intel CPU.
The 5450 provides 1+ hour longer battery life and 36–38% better system efficiency, making it superior for all-day productivity.

Wow okay. First of allThis is an H series cpu. It's a 6 core 12 thread cpu. Most 12th gen cpus in a laptop are U series. Which guess what is LESS powerful. The H series chip scores over 15,000 on passmark while a 12th gen U series chip is less than 13,000I'm only saying this because H series chips on laptops aren't that common but you could find a 12th gen laptop somewhere and 99% of the time it's not an H series. But also. You're not finding a 12th gen i5 in this price range.
