The reviews of the overheating batteries are really worth paying attention to. I think they underpowered this thing. Most of their competitors are using (2) batteries in series to get into that nominal 40V range. That would halve the amps pulled through the batteries and thus halve the heating from internal battery resistance. There is a good review of these battery saws and they really recommend Evolution (a British company). Can't find it in the US except at list price on ACME Tools and direct through the manufacturer's website.
I hope Milwaukee redesigns this with a pair of batteries in series.

I have this and use it regularly to cut steel. Zero complaints. It's a ripper with the 12ah batteries.
