anyone use a switcher to toggle between two AVRs to one pair of speakers? ie: this unit which is for music, and avr that specializes in home theater

Na, if you were looking for a good AVR a Yamaha Aventage would be a solid choice to run both theatre and stereo / phono - the A2A is on sale right now and is superior to the NS600 (imho)

Seconded. Anything other than a ridiculously cheap entry-level AVR will do just fine in stereo mode. Spend the money on the RX-A2A (or something in the same class) and you'll be very happy.

I love Yamaha's continuous "Loudness" knob - great for dialing in and rounding out the bottom end on small bookshelf speakers!

I don't see the coupon. Care to share where to find it? Thanks.

I have this receiver and really like it, but I was able to get it for $500 last year. At $649 it is not a great value. I would definitely only recommend it for use with music. There are better options for AV receivers. I will say it sounds great and has the standard Yamaha flat sound that does not color your music. DAC is as good as you need and MusicCast works very well. I use mine with music streaming from my Mac on a UPnP server and it works flawlessly. AM/FM tuner is really strong and it also has Net Radio for stuff like METV.FM. I prefer it greatly to my experiences with stuff like Wiim amps that I ended up returning right away.

Yeah, the RX-A2A is the go-to Yamaha right now. They even have Sonos compatibility built in now. It's a pretty kick ass receiver for the price.

hmm so a pair of speakers, add this n600asl for music, add a AV receiver for tv and movies, a switcher to share the speakers between those two
