First book was great fun, second book not even worth reading for free from the library

I've heard this several times. Disappointed, but it does seem to be the consensus.

Sadly can't' recommend. Read the first chapter and the writing was a huge turn off. First book was a great read from the get go, disappointed.

So…. Yes, it is pretty bad. Several chapters/"missions" are just really awful. If you really loved the first one, you might be able to make it all the way through. If you didn't love the first or didn't read it, skip this deal.

Second book is just a really slow, boring love letter to specific pop culture pillars of the '80s and a bunch of sci-fi tropes used poorly.

Nowhere near as good as the first one, but is decent if you like Prince and some 90s video games. Warning that it goes out of its way to be 'diverse,' but not in a subtle way. It throws shade at Tolkien which isn't cool.

I'd say read it from your local library. Ready Player One was absolutely better but 2 is still worth a read IMO, but I wouldn't pay for it.
