older movies that didn't have a massive budget.. I doubt they were even shot in 4k.

The better movie which isn't included in this trilogy. The sequence going up the stairs to the restaurant is just so epic!

If a movie was shot on film then it's already at least "6k" with most being 8k+ if you're converting to pixels

16mm is less than 2k equivalent detail. You're assuming it was 35mm or even 70mm..

The original was shot on 35mm. Texture is grainy. Great movie though.

First movie was great, second and third went a more spiritual fantasy kind of way which is cool but didn't vibe with me at all in regards to the first one.

Great movies and he did most of the stunts himself.

Some bad news about his health recently though.

Thai action star Tony Jaa (49) has been battling stage 3, progressing to stage 4, gallbladder cancer since approximately June 2024. Following severe abdominal pain, he underwent surgery and ongoing chemotherapy. Despite a recurrence in cancer markers, reports indicate he is strengthening and under medical supervision.

Yeah, comparable. It has more of a Blood Sport vibe. Worth watching for sure.
