This airplane Bluetooth transmitter and receiver is mainly useful for linking AirPods or other headphones to in flight entertainment, with easy pairing and solid battery life for long flights. It can run through a 16 hour trip without charging, and the sound quality is described as great, with LDAC versions standing out on better headphones. The main caveats are compatibility limits for some AirPods models, possible Bluetooth audio lag, and a very bright blue LED that is distracting in a dark cabin. It is a handy travel adapter if your gear matches its supported versions.

  • The transmitter can run for long flights without needing charging during use.

  • The device can pair easily with AirPods and other headphones for in-flight listening.

  • LDAC-capable versions can produce an audible difference on compatible Sony headphones.

  • The sound quality is described as great when the device is used for airplane listening.

  • The adapter may not support AirPods Pro 2, AirPods 4, or AirPods 4 ANC models.

  • The blue LED ring can be extremely bright and distracting in a dark airplane cabin.

  • The device can introduce noticeable Bluetooth audio lag that makes action movies difficult to watch.

  • The transmitter may not handle advanced audio codecs like aptX HD.

We love these during our 16 hours flights. Never have to charge during those hours. Sync Bose headphones and AirPods easily
Does the white one mentioned here come with this plane adapter?

Was just gonna say something about that. I haven't timed it, but it's probably 3/4 of a second lag, which is horrible. It makes action movies unwatchable. I've gotten used to it with the actor/actresses' mouth not matching the words, but it's really annoying. And it's doing this on 2 different set of Bluetooth headphones I have, both of which don't have any delay when watching on my phone, so this device is the culprit.

Be aware If yall going to use this on the airplane, the biggest hurdle is the LED is so bright and can't be controlled. In the dimmed cabin you can read a book from its light. Otherwise, the sound quality is great.

Will this reduce the damage from the noise of my wife's voice too?

Absolutely. I use it when my wife nags and my kids beg. Only problem, my wife's shrill voice beats the noise cancellation. You'll need some construction headphones or an apple to stop that.

I've had the black airplane BT transmitter for over 2 years. I has been handy whenever I fly. I've paired them with regular headphones and Shokz (not a great listening experience in a plane with those) and both paired with no issues once I figured out how the pairing works. Battery lasts a while, even after not using the thing for over a year, I was able to watch 3.5 hours worth of movies.
You have to get the little foam earplugs when on a plane. JetBlue has it in one of their sleep kits for like $2 if you forget to bring some.

I've never been on a plane that allowed me to pair wireless bluetooth headphones. Maybe i'm flying ghetto airlines?

I'd imagine Emirates or Singapore would have something like that.
it was actually domestic, forgot which plane type. but yes .. I was EEK!

I have, but the Bluetooth connection that the entertainment systems use on planes have terrible connections and sound, so I end up just plugging in. I think this device would make for a better Bluetooth connection/experience.
