Why is this a deal?

Doesn't seem like very much capability for $650. 37w of idle power is awful by modern standards and there's no fanless mode as a result. And you have to deal with D-Link's "smart management". I may be in the minority here, but I would rather learn a fully featured CLI than deal with most of these hacked together garbage GUIs.

Ubiquiti doesn't cost much more for this level of capability, and (like it or hate it) you get their unified management UI plus excellent power/acoustic profiles for home use.

Used ex-enterprise switches are way cheaper for comparable levels of performance. Ruckus ICX7150 is my personal preference these days. 4x 10G + 24-48 1G PoE(or non-PoE) with excellent idle power characteristics and fanless capabilities. And they're only around $100-200 on ebay. Dell N2224X is another cool one at $300-400 new for 2x QSFP+ 4x SFP28 24x 2.5GbE.

Don't many of the enterprise network equipment require expensive licensed management software?

I have icx7150-c12p and it is based on honor system, only enabling 10gbe needs you go to cli and say yes I have a license, that's it. All other management feature doesn't need license, even os upgrades

Regarding the dirt cheap enterprise switches- I'm running Juniper EX4200, this baby is chomping 130W with 11W worth of POE devices Frown I had Cisco 2960, it needed about 50W, but no POE.

You're literally running a switch from 2008. Not sure what else to expect tbh.

You can find an ICX7150-24p for $100-200. 20-25w idle for 4x10G and 24 ports of 1G PoE+.

Even older ~$50 switches will idle down to 30-40w for this level of capability. Aruba S2500, Brocade/Ruckus ICX6450, etc.

I didn't expect Juniper to use almost triple of Cisco of the same vintage. It was free, but you're right, it costs almost $20/month to run, I'll buy something else. Thanks for the recommendations.
