HomeBase 3 is mainly valued for local storage and tying multiple Eufy cameras, doorbells, and sensors into one system, with AI face recognition and faster live view or clip loading in some setups. It can also make event playback feel more reliable than SD cards or older storage setups, especially when paired with an SSD. The biggest drawback is that it can create a hidden 2.4 gigahertz camera network that interferes with WiFi, and some setups still hit slow loading, app bugs, or decrypting delays. A workable hub if the ecosystem fit matters more than perfect network behavior.

Common Questions (5)

  • It can make live feeds and clip loading noticeably faster in some setups, but it can also slow things down and cause repeated loading or playback failures in others. App reinstalling has helped some users, while others still see long delays or clips stuck on Loading.

  • It can broadcast a hidden camera network on 2.4GHz that disrupts nearby Wi‑Fi and may make other devices harder to use. Switching HomeBase working mode from Performance (Beta) to Standard, and sometimes moving the router to channel 1 or 6, can reduce the interference.

  • Yes, it supports local recording to attached storage such as an SSD and can provide more capacity than microSD cards. It is also used for AI-assisted face recognition, though some users still prefer SD cards because they are simpler and faster for direct camera storage.

  • HomeBase 2 does not work with the S220, while HomeBase 3 is used with newer cameras like the S220, E30, S340, and doorbells. One setup reported everything working except the S220 cam, so compatibility can still be model-specific.

  • No, footage previously recorded by a camera may not be reviewable from HomeBase 3 once that camera is offline. That makes local storage less useful for recovering events after a camera disconnects.

For folks with slow load times on recalling footage, it's your upload speed for your internet provider that is the limiting factor. So anyone on normal "coax" internet is going to have a hard time getting to this footage quickly if you are asking this much of your upload speeds
don't think that's my problem -- 50% of alerts will get stuck on "decrypting from local storage". S340 cams, without base.

I've had the s380 for a couple of years now to originally replace my ring camera as I didn't want to pay the 40 dollars per year. I have 4 cameras connected to it now and never realized there was a delay or issues. I have in the past had to uninstall and reinstall the app in order to see events and play back events but that has not been a problem for at least a year now. I'm on android if that matters.

I do like my events are being recorded to an old sata ssd drive I had lying around as it gives plenty of storage and is much more reliable than an sd card.

I can confirm this. I purchased one with connection issue, returned and purchased another one with the same issue. Eufy sent me a replacement unit and nothing improved. The workaround with a dedicated router doesn't work for me. Finally Eufy sent me $30 for compensation. This trash kills your WiFi network, period! Avoid at any price.
Did you ever change the Homebase app setting "HomeBase Settings >> General >> Working Mode >> Standard"?

The default working mode of "Performance (Beta)" seems to be the key setting for wrecking 2.4Ghz by putting out a super strong signal interfering with other 2.4Ghz on Channel 11.

After changing the Working Mode to "Standard" that resolved the interference for my network. I did have to change my home network to use Channel 1 or 6 to improve WiFi performance on 2.4Ghz in addition to the working mode fix, and things got better.

That said, the stupid ethernet port bug of dropping from 1000mbps to 10/100mbps is still a problem, which is where I really noticed the issues in the app compared to have devices directly connected to the Eufy app.

I did. Unfortunately, every method I found from the internet failed for me.

Damn, that sucks. I'm still using this for the external storage syncing and for the video stitching function between multiple camera. Otherwise I feel these bases should be included for a cheaper price given how buggy these are for the price.

Still not compatible with wired dual cam doorbell, it's radicilous for all these years. Works with wireless but not with wired, same model doorbell, S330.

I have the S380 Homebase and it has worked wonderfully for me. Loading times are almost instant to wireless cameras. Playback is almost instant as well. Here's how I am using them... My settings are set to "Performance" for working mode. I have 2 of them homebases. One in front of house and 1 closer to the back of the house. Your signal to cameras will significantly degrade if you're using just 1 homebase. Connect/synch the cameras that are closer to the homebase based on which one is closer. I have about 4-6 cameras connected to each homebase. Use a SSD card for storage instead of a HDD. Connect the homebase to a ethernet connection. I am also using Deco mesh and the homebase closer to the respective Deco will be wired into that. I have 10 of them Decos around my house. 3 are outdoor models. Might be overkill on decos, but I like having my wifi signal strong since I am also using at least 5 Reolink wifi cameras and 18 Blink cameras. I am also using the eufy POE NVR system and Reolink POE cameras... I had many struggles before, but now everything is working fine.

Mine just died randomly after two years. We only have two cameras that are required to be paired to it. I don't really want to invest more into this ecosystem. At this point I'd like to move toward a home assistant setup.
Mine died too after two years and I complained about it and they finally sent me a brand new one and told me to keep my other way for free so it may be worth a try. It took a little bit it.😁

Wow, I did not realize how many people hates this wifi NAS. Really, for something that is only $100, I am pretty happy with it. I have it linked to all my solar and powered security cameras + doorbell. I have had no issue with it what so ever. Sure, a real NAS with POE cameras is far superior. And I have those as well. But for the price and what it does, I can't really complain much.

App and firmware updates are auto_released without any prior testing and will wind up making your surveillance system totally worthless. This had happened twice to me and has cost me many, many, many hours of my time trying to get the system to work. Tech support is clueless even after having many online complaints post_updates. Save yourself a lot of time and frustration and by a REAL surveillance system and not this "wanna be" toy.
