HomeBase 3 is mainly valued for local storage and tying multiple Eufy cameras, doorbells, and sensors into one system, with AI face recognition and faster live view or clip loading in some setups. It can also make event playback feel more reliable than SD cards or older storage setups, especially when paired with an SSD. The biggest drawback is that it can create a hidden 2.4 gigahertz camera network that interferes with WiFi, and some setups still hit slow loading, app bugs, or decrypting delays. A workable hub if the ecosystem fit matters more than perfect network behavior.

  • HomeBase 3 can improve live feed and clip loading speed after adding it to a multi-camera Eufy setup.

  • HomeBase 3 can record events to local storage using an old SATA SSD, which can feel more reliable than SD cards.

  • HomeBase 3 can work with multiple Eufy devices together, including S340 cameras, a S220 camera, a doorbell, and motion or contact sensors.

  • Switching the HomeBase working mode from Performance (Beta) to Standard can resolve 2.4GHz interference on some networks.

  • HomeBase 3 hardware can limit Ethernet speed to 10/100 instead of 1GbE, which can contribute to app performance issues.

  • HomeBase 3 can disrupt 2.4GHz Wi‑Fi by broadcasting a hidden camera network, and fixes may require a second router or hardware changes.

  • HomeBase 3 can worsen live-view reliability by leaving cameras stuck on a permanent Loading state.

  • HomeBase 3 can fail to review previously recorded footage when a camera goes offline.

HB2 supports some new models, like S220 and E30.

HB3 has some serious issues. If it isn't necessary, don't get one. They like to broadcast a hidden network for cameras and it will destroy your 2.4ghz spectrum. Even if you change the channel on your router. There are ways to fix it, but it involves a second router or doing surgery on the thing.

I don't really see the point of this thing. It slows everything down as well. Good luck live viewing quickly or watching recordings. An SD card in each camera is significantly better, quicker, and even cheaper.

I did it for more storage space and what I thought was going to be quicker recall of video. What kills me is that if a camera is offline, I can't review the footage from the homebase that was previously recorded by the camera. The eufy app is mind-blowing bad. Google home provides a better live view from cameras.

I could rant for a long time about the issues with this, Unfortunately it is required for some of the doorbells.

I'm not sure if it's quicker; i was contemplating getting this in hopes to alleviate the long loading issues I intermittently and randomly get when trying to live view a camera. There has been so many times where I hear the dogs barking and when trying to check the cameras, they're just stuck on "Loading" forever

What do you do in the event a bad guy destroys the camera including the SD card in it?

These cameras aren't a great substitute for a security system, but they work for casual monitoring.

It will make the loading issues substantially worse. Homebase 3 is a piece of **** and they never fix any bugs because there's constantly a new one being worked on. I've already seen some ads for it in the eufy app.

Mine just died randomly after two years. We only have two cameras that are required to be paired to it. I don't really want to invest more into this ecosystem. At this point I'd like to move toward a home assistant setup.

I got it with the s4 solar cams, it just slowed everything way down. I disconnected the cameras from it and now they're usable, I still need to have it for the doorbell camera though...

curious as to why do u need it for doorbell? Any specific need ? If the need is to store away from the actual doorbell, you can buy a chime and insert sd card, I did the same.

They now have the NVR out with a wifi module you can buy to add the wireless cameras and sensors to. It works okay not too much lag. The delay with decrypting footage from the phone notifications is annoyingly long though.

Try uninstalling / reinstalling the eufy app. That made a noticeable difference for me

interesting feedback on this. I have the older HB (2.0 i think) it works well. I cant use newer cameras with it, and now I wont get the new homebase with all the feedback. I have no slow loading issues. The Blink cameras i tried before were god awful compared to this (now older) setup.
