This ZenBook 14 stands out as a light 14 inch OLED ultrabook with a bright 500 nit display, strong travel friendly portability, and enough Intel Arc graphics for light gaming and editing. The metal chassis, vivid colors, and solid battery life make it appealing for work on the go. RAM is soldered, so upgrades are not an option, and the open box listings can arrive with dirt, missing chargers, or even BIOS locks that block changes. A better condition grade and a careful pickup check matter here.

  • The OLED display is described as bright with colors popping for work and editing use.

  • The chassis is described as metal, super light, and super thin for travel convenience.

  • The laptop's RAM is on-chip, which prevents upgrade attempts but keeps the configuration fixed.

  • Intel Arc graphics are described as capable enough for gaming while traveling.

  • Some "Excellent" open-box units can arrive with grimy oily keys, food crumbs, and missing accessories like the power adapter.

  • Password-protected BIOS and secure boot restrictions can prevent disabling secure boot or making BIOS changes for Linux.

  • Best Buy open-box grading can be inconsistent, with "Fair" arriving new and "Excellent" arriving heavily used.

  • Shipped open-box units can show major condition variance, including cigarette smoke odor, missing stickers, touchpad click issues, and reduced battery capacity.

He could have called his manager over and adjusted the price to Good or even Fair. I had that happend when I got a refurb at Best Buy and a bumper on the bottom was loose and flopping around.
.
I tried that. I probably would have bought it as a fair for $517. I really don't have a need for the AC adapter. The general dirtiness of the computer made me unwilling to pay the "excellent" price. I asked that they either give me the power adapter or adjust the price. Multiple blue shirts told me they were not allowed to do that. Oh well. I'll see what the shipped ones look like. Fingers crossed.

It sure makes BB employees look stupid as hell when they don't even know their own rules. The open-box grading system is pretty clear and the only thing "excellent" can be missing is the original box (a new change, btw, so BB could resell more laptops at the higher "excellent" price). The fact that it was graded "excellent" without a charger says a lot about how well trained these people are. It irks me a lot when I'm expected to follow their rules but they can't even follow their own rules.

I have the Intel Core Ultra 9 - 32GB RAM - 1TB SSD variant of this model that I got from about $750 off eBay. It's light and bright with great battery life. I just swapped out the drive, which was actually a very impressive Micron SSD, with a 2 TB drive. This laptop replaced my other ASUS (Q540) that was great because I could expand the RAM and it had an extra SSD slot but it was a little too large and heavy for my taste.
They make a quality laptop with nice screens and a good price. No complaints here.
I had a Q540 -- it was my first OLED laptop and after that I was in love with OLED! And yes, the extra SODIMM slot and extra NVMe slot were nice!

Upgradeable RAM?
Anytime you see LPDDR it means "Low Power" DDR. The Low Power is achieved by soldering the RAM directly to the motherboard.

Recap: one "excellent" I picked up at store but refused/refunded due to general dirtiness and missing power adapter. I ordered two online for shipping/delivery. They arrived yesterday. Both came with original Asus boxes. One was in decent shape. Battery shows full capacity and about 4 hours of use with 2 cycles. SSD shows the same amount of power on hours and 32 cycles. I'm keeping this one. The second one reeked of cigarette smoke, with the palm rest stickers missing, and the AC adapter covered in pet hair and even more severe smell of smoke. The back cover was not fully closed at one edge, a clear sign it opened, and the right click on the touch pad just didn't work - the pad doesn't have any give at all on the lower right corner. Left click worked fine. Battery life showed 20 hours of use but only 90% remaining capacity. SSD shows a similar 20 hour use and about 100 cycles. I obviously returned this one. So one out of three. Not great.

I ordered one online, arriving tomorrow, seem like the "true" excellent condition is only 33%
