I recently got a open box hp omen max 5080 on hold for pickup for 1620. The only thing im hesitant about is that its the non oled

Non-LED is ok as long as it is IPS with good refresh rate, OLED gives you better contrast and most vendors achieve that by a reflective screen that is not so convenient for most depending on surrounding where they use.
OLED has a burn in issue to address which most manufacturers use software based solutions to prevent it. Also, on tests it has been noted OLED consume more power resulting in a lesser battery usage duration.
