That's exactly what it means. Even the used market for AM4 is inflated, and there are people paying it. This 5700x is almost sold out already, I just saw a 5800x3d used go for $400 on FB marketplace, and eBay is full of used AM4 for more than new retail. Unlike what economists would like to believe, consumers are not rational.

No it isn't "sold out", you are not aware of the actual volume of product available. These listings are private party sellers on Amazon, same on ebay, etc. Low volume scalpers do not dictate the market, and the 5800X3D has been inflated since last year, the 5700X hasn't been. No economist thinks consumers are rational, nice try at making up something to argue against. The 5700X was a deal at $125 last fall, bought plenty for customers then. It's a pass at $220, obviously. Once retailers start really feeling the pain this spring, everything but RAM and SSDs will be clearance. Reminds me of the countless posts about GPUs never going down again a few years ago, yet us builders bought crates of them after the scalpers finally folded.
Have you tried finding a decent 12/13/14th gen Intel board these days that doesn't cost an arm or leg and doesn't throttle because the VRM's are crap?

I didn't even offer 13/14th gen new for builds, Raptor Lake was garbage. Built and still build 12th gen, no issue finding boards or CPUs there, but obviously DDR4 is a problem for everyone right now.
Raptor Lake microcode updates were mitigation, not fixes. They were to extend the useful life of the CPUs past expiry. I, and fellow engineers / technicians have worked on hundreds, even systems built post updates, that have failed.

Raptor Lake is fixed now with bios update. 12th gen is solid. Where are you finding ATX DDR4 boards these days, or micro's that don't throttle?

before anyone brings up how 5800x is a 120W part where as 5700X is 65W. know that you could run 5800X in 65W profile and turn that into 5700x
