This looks cool but at first glance the software for the LCD needs to be running all the time (not a huge surprise) for the LCD to provide real time system info. I was hoping it could do basic system monitoring without a background process running all the time.

💯
The TRCC app is horrible. I have a Ryzen 5950X with PBO enabled and it bugs me that at idle with out the app I'm at 35* or less and once I turn the app on it spikes temps to 50*-60*.

Is there an uppoer limit to what they can add on to a simple CPU cooler?
Thermalright certainly seems to be taking the 'shotgun' approach to their coolers. It's nuts how many different models they have. Literally about 20 different 240mm AIOs alone.
I owned the lower tier AIO pc cooler and this specific screen but the standalone one. The standalone screen died less than a month. the PC Cooler was so AWESOME the temperature never dropped below 90f. I had a personal heater in the room for the winter. I reached out to the customer service hoping to find a solution but started accusing me that my gpu is old and my memory is old, nothing about how to solve the thermal nuclear heater in my living room (this part I am not exaggerating) they did not once asked anything about the cooler. I returned both products. Also, the I don't believe the screen is 1080, I think it's 480p. It's very washed out colors, you can see a pixels.
Stay away if I were u, why would u want a screen on the side of ur PC, waste energy, take up space, u looking at the monitor, not this thing, this is another gimmick just like those ram with led

It's completely useless without that app running. Doesn't even report basic coolant temps like the NZXT ones.
If you're running Linux, it will just show the Thermalright logo and nothing else. At least its not the same animation over and over again like new Corsair ones. They used to show temps but decided to remove that now.

Although id agree the app isnt the best and is pretty clunky, ive had zero issues as far as performance. im sitting idle at 33* on my Ryzen 7700. Under full load im always under 50* while gaming. The app running in background is not noticeable at all.

Do coolers need drivers now? How long are they supported?
They don't need the drivers. Plug n play with USB connection. But then will need the software to auto run at start to initialize the screen. If the software don't run, only the thermaright logo will be shown until its software finds the monitor via existing USB connection

Either your AIO pump was bad from the factory, you forgot to remove the clear vinyl from the heat plate or had bad/no thermal paste. I have three of the company's AIO's and they all do a very good job cooling my PC's.

Looks like there are a few reviews that say the same in for the AIO screen. That said, it's tough to find small PC case screens that are durable.
