I mean, yeah, that's how manufacturing works. It's supposed to be cheaper to make than to sell. And while I suppose "pennies" could include a billion, I don't think that's what you're saying. I'd be shocked if this is less than $1-2 to manufacture, then there's packaging, shipping, storage, and profit.

While sure, the $18 MSRP is a joke, $9 seems pretty reasonable. I couldn't print this for less than $3-ish with decent filament, and the finish almost certainly wouldn't look this good. Then there's the LED, wiring, and stand. It's $9...I don't think it's any more of a rip-off than most things that are "pennies to make" and sold an ocean away from where they were made, and people buy that stuff all the time.

Geez. These things have been around for over a decade. They cost pennies to make. $18 msrp is outrageous and $9 is pushing it for 5".

Its a foam ball with a $1 light source in it. Should be $5 max considering what you are getting.
