I was looking into these cheap Bluetooth labelers. Few things to keep in mind:

This machine along with a majority of these cheap Chinese bluetooth label makers use Direct Thermal technology. The printing in these are not meant to last, as they will fade. Its okay if you want to print a label or sticker that you don't intend to keep long term.

Label makers with Thermal Transfer technology are better if you want a label that will last for years. Personally, I use labels for my folders and things that I plan to keep. I don't want to worry about the ink on these labels fading.

Some of the more affordable label makers that use Thermal Transfer printing would be the Brother and Dymo label makers. Problem with these are they are huge and generally take about 6 AA batteries or an AC adapter.

Niimbot requires their proprietary labels as they use RFID security. There might be a work around this, but I haven't looked into it.

The basic features of their app is free. But if you want to use more extensive fonts and templates, you got to pay for a subscription.
If you really don't care about label print longevity, I think Phomemo would be a better choice than a Niimbot.

thanks for the info, i'm looking for something that makes labels that last and can possibly survive getting wet as i plan on labeling a bunch of fishing tackle boxes. since you seem like an expert on this stuff, do you have any recommendations for something that'd work? having to use an AC adapter or batteries isn't much of an issue for me, i likely won't be using it too often anyways.
thanks in advance!

I have this exact model, bought in 10/2025, and have printed name labels for shirts/clothes that have gone through the wash, repeatedly, and kept their print (although they sometimes fall off in the wash, as you would imagine, but it is surprisingly rare.)
I haven't noticed any losing their print, but they aren't in the sun, much. mostly on containers in the basement, attached to the tags of shirts/shoes, and on things like flashlights, drink tumblers (which have also gone through the [dish]washer), my laptops, phone, wallet, spice jars, etc. I bought it for $9.49 and absolutely love it for that/this price.
Other notes: it boots up and syncs to my (android, pixel 10 pro) phone very fast. the software is pretty easy, you can save templates, it has a decent amount of free fonts, and you can get cheaper labels from places like aliexpress (temu too, I imagine.)
I have been meaning to setup this software to unlock it a bit more, and be able to design labels on my computer, but have been too lazy:

"you don't intend to keep long term."
What does "long term" mean in this case? A year? 2? 5? 10?

I've printed labels that have lasted two year so far. I'm sure they will fade after a few years but not at my 2 year use. They will prob turn black if something with one of these labels are in a hot car because of course they are thermal labels. You do have to buy nimmbot labels with the RFID sticker or else transfer the sticker from a used up legit one to a generic one. This labeler is only 203dpi resolution. If you want 300dpi then use their $24 version https://a.co/d/038Tvfrn

Failed the back of the remotes test. One week, tops. But that's thermal transfer. Don't use it on high traffic items.

How water resistant are the labels? I'm going to use these with my indoor garden.

Not worth it due to the information they demand so you can use the nimbot app and they send it all overseas.
