If you're using well water to wash, add a sediment filter to your water supply to prevent damage to the pump. Do some occasional maintenance such as changing the oil to the pump and the engine. Winterize your unit, fuel, pump, and gun.

Woot keeps having the much larger Simpson 4 gallon per minute 4400 PSI unit for $499. But the comments say that the engine and pump aren't great. Does this one have a better engine and pump?

While CAT pumps are general considered the best, AAA pumps are still pretty good, much better than you'll find on anything in a big box store for under $600, and engine wise, hondas are considered the best but with proper winterizing and running the gas line dry for storage, this should last a long time. Plenty of these out there with hundreds of hours on them.
