It is waterproof if you define waterproof as protecting what is UNDER it.
Before the first wash liquid beads up on it. After the first wash, fabric absorbs liquid but the silicone (i think) on the underside (my bed). Never a leak
This is fine since I bought it to protect the bed not the cover.
