I bought open box excellent for $173 on President's day. This is a great deal... and i am on my way to get a refund for the difference.

Also beware of fakes. Lots of cases where people buy brand new from BestBuy (or other retailers) and then return fake ones for a full refund.

I took advantage of this deal when the Pro 2s were available and made the mistake of not checking if they were iCloud locked before I left the store. Don't be me and make sure you can add them to your iCloud before you leave the store as the "Find My" feature will not work if that's essential to you. Every other feature worked fine but for myself, not having the find my feature sucked

Make sure - if you can't add them to find my then they should be going back - as that's the sure way to verify if they are fake or not.

Even for real(Apple) used airpods the find my feature likely will not work.. previous owner didn't unlock them before returning...

I purchased an Open Box "Fair" set from Best Buy today for $134.99.

I asked to look at them before I purchased and with my naked eye I can't find any scratches or issues. I took close up macros photos and maybe I can see some very faint things but in person if you told me they were new I'd believe you.

The box has giant Best Buy return stickers on it - that doesn't look new - but the case and the extra tops and the Airpods themselves are spotless.


The warranty ends of 12/26/2026 and I was able to see them in the Find My device so they aren't registered to anyone else.

Sorry! I purchased the excellent condition pro 3 and just picked them up. They are brand new except for the box. Absolutely do not look like anyone touched them. All the foam ear pieces are there and look untouched. No problem pairing them and placing them on "find my". The store would not let me open the box to see them until I purchased them. They had two pairs in excellent condition so I figured if mine had an issue I would return them and try the other one but no this one is a keeper! Best buy said there is a two week return policy. How do I tell the date of first purchase?
