No SSD, but 24GB (soldered), USB4 AND Oculink is phenominal.
Also, if you're familiar with installing your own OS and are able to do simple network VLANing you should be able to prevent any attacks (assuming there is actual malware on the machine). All im saying is taht there is a lot of FUD out there with regard to the concerns you mentioned. If your risk tolerance is low, i guess you can skip these kinds of deals. Its all about your own comfort level.
Community Reviews
This AOOSTAR mini PC stands out as a compact Ryzen 7 Pro 6850H box with 24GB soldered LPDDR5, USB4, OCuLink, dual 2.5GbE, and Wi Fi 6, making it especially appealing for homelab, Proxmox, and light gaming setups. The 680M iGPU and fast memory are described as strong for an integrated graphics system, and HDMI 2.1 is expected to support high refresh 4K output. The main tradeoffs are the soldered RAM and no included SSD or operating system. Deal pricing and coupon behavior were unstable, with reports of codes expiring, checkout errors, and the price jumping into the $400s.
Common Questions (5)
Yes. The 24GB DDR5 RAM is soldered, so it cannot be upgraded or swapped later. It runs at LPDDR5 6400 MT/s in a 4x6GB quad-channel configuration.
It appears to be HDMI 2.1. That matters because it can support higher refresh rates over HDMI, including 4K at 120Hz or higher with the right cable and display.
Yes, it includes both USB4 and OCuLink, which is a major reason the machine is attractive at this price. Those ports make it useful for external GPU or high-speed expansion setups.
Yes, it can reportedly reach 4K at 120Hz and even 144Hz when the HDMI 2.1 connection and cable are working properly. A different cable was needed in one case to unlock the higher refresh rate.
Yes. It uses an Intel I226-V Ethernet controller and an Intel Wi‑Fi 6 AX200 160MHz adapter, so wired and wireless networking are both built in.
