This AOOSTAR mini PC stands out as a compact Ryzen 7 Pro 6850H box with 24GB soldered LPDDR5, USB4, OCuLink, dual 2.5GbE, and Wi Fi 6, making it especially appealing for homelab, Proxmox, and light gaming setups. The 680M iGPU and fast memory are described as strong for an integrated graphics system, and HDMI 2.1 is expected to support high refresh 4K output. The main tradeoffs are the soldered RAM and no included SSD or operating system. Deal pricing and coupon behavior were unstable, with reports of codes expiring, checkout errors, and the price jumping into the $400s.

  • The system offers USB4 plus an OCuLink connection, which can support setups like Frigate with OCuLink.

  • The mini PC includes soldered 24GB LPDDR5 RAM, which supports fast 6400 MT/s performance for demanding workloads.

  • The networking hardware includes Intel I226-V Ethernet and Intel Wi‑Fi 6 AX200 160MHz for cluster and homelab use.

  • The HDMI output reportedly supports higher refresh rates in 4K when using the right cable.

  • Coupon and checkout pricing can change unexpectedly, including coupon errors and first-come-first-served discounts running out.

  • The soldered RAM can be a deal-breaker if expectations were set for upgradeable memory.

  • Sales tax and invoice totals can be confusing, with reported effective tax rates that differ from the expected NY rate.

  • Hardware reliability can be an issue, since a non-working system fan reportedly caused overheating and HDD problems.

I got a similar deal back at the end of November, except it included 16GB non soldered RAM and a 512 SSD (Firebat A6). I'm actually very impressed with the 680m's performance

I can only speak for myself i suppose, but the number of folks concerned about these things (in sd comments, reddit, etc) vs the number of folks actually affected are pretty lopsided. Most of the concerns are about malware being preloaded on hdds running windows. Some have mentioned bios level stuff, but I dont know if those are confirmed. Also, if you're familiar with installing your own OS and are able to do simple network VLANing you should be able to prevent any attacks (assuming there is actual malware on the machine). All im saying is taht there is a lot of FUD out there with regard to the concerns you mentioned. If your risk tolerance is low, i guess you can skip these kinds of deals. Its all about your own comfort level.
I'm sure the spies are very interested in all my Amazon shopping habits and Excel spreadsheets that help me organize my sneaker collection.

Should be able to download from AMD directly. That includes chipset drivers as well.

Yes, get the chipset driver and video from AMD. Get the three networking items from Intel. Windows Update and Advanced/Optional Updates (if you run that one) will also have updated a number of things for you.

There may be one or two stragglers beyond that:
https://aoostar.com/pages/drives-systems

Specifically, the "GEM10 6800H- Drives" one. They mean "drivers" and not "drives," and they actually do use Mega:

I bought a similar Minisforum machine awhile back from AliExpress. One showed up from Amazon as a "gift" from someone I'd never heard of. Then a week later, got a second one the same way.

It was a scam to launder credit cards I assume. I pay them through AliExpress, then they buy the product from Amazon with a stolen card. Then they're paid from AliExpress. In my case they screwed up and did it twice.

Called Amazon and they didn't know what to do with me, and didn't want me to return the PCs. Asked them to put a note on my account and the purchases that I had tried to call to resolve. Didn't want LE to show up thinking I'm involved in credit card fraud.

Was able to place the order 5 mins back as only 1 was available. had issues with applying promo code but finally successful in mobile safari browser instead of my MacBook Pro. Can someone suggest a 1TB SSD that is reliable and good in terms of RW speeds. TIA

The AMD drivers were easy, but what Intel driver should I search for? I saw general Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers. Couldn't find a generic Ethernet one though.
