About this Item:
  • More power generation: Single-axis tracking mounts maximize efficiency by keeping your solar panels facing the sun at all times. Single-axis tracking mounts can boost the power generation of solar panels by at least 30% compared to traditional fixed solar mounts.
  • 270° adjustment: The single-axis tracking mounting system allows light sensors and controllers to work together to push the rods through 270° of angular adjustment so that the solar panels always follow the sun's rotation, absorbing solar energy from the north-southeast and north-west, thus generating more power.
  • For different panels: The single-axis tracking racking system is also suitable for different sizes of solar panels. Up to 4 panels can be installed when width of each is less than 22in. Up to 3 panels can be installed when width of each is less than 29.5in. Up to 2 panels can be installed when width of each is less than 44.8in. You can install the board according to the actual needs.
  • Stability & installation: Stability of single-axis tracking mounts still deserves your attention. Wind resistance level >L8 and pressure resistance >5400PA are sufficient for most environmental conditions. In addition, the installation is very easy and requires only 4 simple steps: â‘  Use expansion screws to fix the base â‘¡ Connect the A-E rods and actuators to the main pole â‘¢ Installing the Controller â‘£ Installation of solar panels.
  • Easy to use: The setup is very easy, you only need to operate the controller to complete the control of the single axis tracking bracket system. SET Button - Automatically track the solar mode. FLAT(M) Button - Automatic flat bracket mode.

This single axis solar tracker is mainly about squeezing more output from limited space, especially for ground mounts or roof replacements where drilling is already planned. The controller can lay the array flat in low sun or high wind, and the actuators have held up for more than a year in some setups. The tradeoff is that wind, maintenance, and eventual motor failure are recurring concerns, and the space it needs can rival simply adding another panel. For many layouts, extra panels still look like the simpler path.

Common Questions (5)

  • Wind is a major caveat: the small motors are viewed as unable to handle strong winds, and the instructions reportedly include wind-speed limits. The tracker can lay the array flat when the sun is down or when wind exceeds a programmable threshold, but it still needs careful anchoring and may be risky in exposed locations.

  • The expected gain is only about 10% to 30% depending on setup and conditions, with one commenter estimating roughly 10% more generation from a DIY tracker. Several comments say that extra output is often not worth the added cost, maintenance, and failure points versus simply adding another panel.

  • For many setups, an extra panel gives more output for the money than this tracker. The tracker's value case is mainly when space is tight or when you want ground-mounted panels above the roof, because the moving frame also takes up space and adds maintenance.

  • It appears to hold two full-size panels, and one commenter said their setup would only fit two of their older panels per unit with tracking. That limited capacity is why some people consider adding more fixed panels instead of relying on the tracker alone.

  • Yes. One reported use is mounting a Fresnel lens as a solar oven, showing the frame can be repurposed for other sun-tracking projects beyond PV panels.

Attach solar panels to the laser beams and you can /recharge/ the sun!

You get the ultimate tier green energy bonus card to show off.
Only if you also put solar panels on the sun

Hmm I passed on the big trackers in the past, but one of the smaller ones (well two of them) actually sounds enticing to atleast try out.
Panels are getting so cheap I wonder if it is worth bothering installing trackers instead of just putting in more panels.

Not usually, had to be very specific circumstances.

Trackers limit density because of the shade they cast, and they require robust anchoring as well.

Add in more maintenance and things to go wrong or break and it becomes even less desirable.

For me I'm a solar educator so I always want to try things so when I give an option I can back it with experience.

I just ordered eight of these. Even if the motors break right away, they're cheaper then six premade ground mounts. I pulled my solar off the roof to get a new roof, and I'm not going to drill another 800 holes in that new roof. Also, I'll put these in the field for much, much better afternoon solar throughout the year. I am jazzed. And heck, if 8 work, I'll get 8 more and finish out the old microinverter system. The bad news is, I have to dig maybe 250 feet of trench. :\
You're much better off just getting more panels and/or better panels. That's an incredible amount of money, work and concrete for very little upside while they work, and a major headache when the motors start failing or there's a major wind storm.

Ground mounts cost more, and I'll still have to dig all the trenching, run across the bridge, and so on. We also have a lot of shade down in the canyon, so catching what we can catch would be nice. Then there's the ability to mow underneath, since we're in a high fire area, and I can't do that with basic ground mounts. I think, on the whole, it's a worthwhile experiment, even if I just re-aim them four times a year by hand.
I looked at doing a pergola mount, even going so far as to design one myself to save money, and it was just a hell of a lot of work to get them off the ground, more work than these mounts by far.

Yes, but you'll have to calculate where the sun will be 8m and 20sec later since the relative position will change by then. You cannot just aim where the sun is now if you want to start laser-targeting it.
When running past someone spraying them with water, their relative position will be different, yet they didnt move so no need to change aim. if they also moving, yes need to aim where will be. which is this? I have no idea.

Will it reduce the power bills? And how? Will it power at least all the fans and lights every day?
