Nice post, matched my deal alert. Not ready to bite because of personal finances but this is a price I like.

The 37 inch ViewFinity S8 is a big productivity monitor that stands out for sharp text, vibrant color, and strong desktop uniformity. It feels light enough to move around, and the built in KVM and USB C setup add convenience for a single monitor workstation. The main cautions are its VA panel, which can show color shift at the far corners, and the size may feel too large if you sit close. Brightness also gets called out as dull on older S8 models, so it suits productivity more than punchy media use.

Common Questions (5)

  • It can look dark and dull compared with the 350-nit spec, and the VA panel may show color shift toward the far corners, especially on a large non-curved screen. At the same time, it can offer better desktop uniformity than some brighter mini-LED alternatives.

    larcieledgarwongheavyharmonies

  • Yes. It's reported to be a strong single-monitor productivity display with razor-sharp text, vibrant color, and no noticeable text fringing or color variation, making it well suited for desktop publishing and Photoshop-style work.

    heavyharmoniesheavyharmonies

  • It should be able to, since the monitor has USB-C and a built-in KVM switch, which are the features typically used for docking and switching between devices. The thread does not confirm Steam Deck-specific testing, though.

    ShadowPanCoolRoute8143

  • It can be too large if you sit very close, and the lower pixel density may be more noticeable at that distance. If you have enough desk depth, the size is still considered a good deal for the price.

    ckwebzedgarwong

  • The $299 deal price appears tied to the USB-C model, and the product diagram for that model still shows one HDMI input. That port layout was questioned in the thread, so the USB-C version may still include HDMI.

Confirmed. Still not a bad price, but the OP should be updated.

Different Amazon SKU. The link in the OP would need to be updated or a new deal posted.

Looks like the S80UD is back to $599 and the S70UD is back to $399, at least for now.

My S80UD arrived yesterday, and boy is it massive (that's what she said!). Fairly light in terms of weight and easy to manipulate. The joystick switch takes a bit of getting used to.

Panel is crystal clear, and for my purposes (productivity, not gaming), it checks all the boxes, especially for these old eyes.

I also received a TCL 32R84 mini-LED at the same time to compare, and while the mini-LED is bright AF and the colors had more punch compared to this Samsung, the uniformity was freaking awful. Working on desktop publishing and in Photoshop was miserable. It's going back and I'm keeping the S80UD.

Just reporting back after working with the monitor for a few months, and it is fantastic for a single-monitor productivity solution. I'm not a gamer (or at least not on this particular system), but for desktop publishing and other tasks, this monitor checks all the boxes for me. Razor sharp, vibrant color, no perceptable color variation or text fringing.

Recommended.

P.S. This SKU in the original link is $339 as of right now, which is still not a bad price at all.
