The new MILWAUKEE 3/8" Stubby Impact Wrench delivers the Most Power, Is Lighter Weight & More Compact while delivering 50% Faster Application speeds. Leveraging POWERSTATE Brushless Motor, The Stubby Delivers 0-3,000 RPM with up to 550 ft-lbs of Nut Busting Torque, allowing the removal of the most corroded and stubborn applications. This Milwaukee solution delivers on performance and size, at only 2.2 lbs bare tool. Users will experience less fatigue throughout their work week while fitting into tight spaces and allowing access where larger impacts can't fit without using additional accessories or disassembling components to reach the desired fastener. Equipped with Tri LED work lights to illuminate your work area without the frustration of shadows. 4-Mode DRIVE CONTROL for greater precision and customization to your desired power output, including AUTO SHUT-OFF that applies no more than 15 ft-lbs of torque for hand-tight applications that prevent overtightening when in forward. In reverse, bolt removal mode will slow down the RPM once the bolt is free to prevent bolts from flying around your work area. To change the modes, it is a single-handed operation. By shifting the forward-reverse shuttle into neutral and double-tapping the trigger, you will be able to change modes effortlessly.

This M12 Fuel stubby impact wrench bundle stands out for compact size and surprising punch, especially when paired with the XC High Output 5.0 Ah battery. It is praised for lug nuts, axle nuts, caliper bolts, and other stubborn fasteners, with the 5.0 battery seen as the setup that unlocks its full performance. The 3/8 inch drive fits general use well, though larger bolts and socket sizes often favor 1/2 inch tools. The kit does not include a charger, and the price is viewed as fair but not the lowest seen.
DIY mechanics tightening lug nuts and stubborn suspension bolts, because the stubby can break loose crusty fasteners quickly while staying small.
Tradespeople who want a compact impact for fastener work, because the 12V body is lighter yet still handles general use and larger jobs with an adapter.
Buyers who already have a capable first-generation stubby and do not need more compact power, because the newer version may not justify replacing a tool that still works well.
Yes. It is used successfully for lug nuts, lug bolts, axle nuts, caliper bolts, and even stubborn exhaust bolts, and it can break loose old fasteners very quickly for its size.
Yes. The 5.0 Ah High Output battery is the best match for this stubby and is needed to get its maximum power; smaller 2.0/3.0 Ah packs do not show its full potential.
The 3/8 in. stubby is great for lug nuts and general use, but larger bolts are more commonly handled with 1/2 in. impact sockets. Using adapters can reduce torque, and 3/8 in. socket sets often top out at smaller sizes than 1/2 in. sets.
For many fastener jobs, yes. The M12 stubby is described as plenty powerful for most tasks while being much smaller, and the M18 equivalent is noted as larger without being more powerful in this use case.
I opted for the M18 to ensure I had sufficient power for any task. It's better to be overpowered than under equipped
The m18 equivalent of this is actually less powerful and much larger . The mid torque is really plenty of power for most task but it's also 3xs the physical size .
My thoughts are I could always use more batts but I own a couple of these 5.0's already. The cheapest I remember seeing tool only was around 150$ . A deal similar will come again. If I really needed another 5 for 60$ more ain't bad. I'm going to wait. I own 3.0 cp 2.0cp I don't own a 2.5 h.o. yet maybe I will come across a stubby and 2.5 deal in the future.
Makes sense. Good point about the 5.0. I don't have any, but do have one 4.0 and one 6.0 but neither are HO. I'll give it more thought but appreciate your outlook.

3x is major exaggeration. For my use, I have more than enough clearance for my M18, so the larger size doesn't bother me at all.

I actually got in on this deal back in December, when this same kit was $159. Ridiculous power in this tiny thing... I think even at $210 probably a good buy.
Great deal! At 199.99, folks would jump all over this pairing. $10 more isn't a big ask. For reference, I got the tool only from a FP deal here a couple of weeks ago for 150 (Fasteners Inc, Authorized dealer) and two XC 5.0 batteries from Woot for 109 (non authorized dealer but 50 capital one statement credit). Ultimately my purchase will net the same as this deal and I have 2 batteries, but this is no hoops to jump through and I might regret having 2 batteries from a non-authorized dealer even if Milwaukee warranties the born on dates. TU
I see lots of these m12 deals. is 12v milwaukee really good/powerful enough vs 18v?
I use both. I love my M12 for impact drill, driver, grease gun, and any tool that you want a reliable lighter version. It's great for lighter weight and using for all pretty much any project that uses fasteners. Used them to install an entire exterior wall of Versetta Stone.
I like the M18 for nailers and saws and other cutting tools. I feel the added weight gives me a little more precision and safety for cutting, and obviously longer lasting.
I used a low profile 1/2 inch adapter adapter and was able to pull the crank bolt and pulley off a 14 year old LS3 with this setup. It also got the crusty exhaust bolts out.
You lose power when you use an adapter, would rather have a 1/2 drive and use adapter 1/2 to 3/8 as stuff that's for that size don't need a lot of power.

Yea, but using an adapter you lose torque and most 3/8" impact socket sets only go up to 24mm compared to 32mm for 1/2" sets, so with 3/8" you have to find and buy individual sockets for the larger sizes.

In 4 one with the HO 5.0 battery 🔋. Could be cheaper but the price seems reasonable with inflation and these trarrifs. You must have a HO 5.0 for this one to max powet

The kit's stubby impact wrench can reach its max performance when paired with the HO 5.0 battery.
The 3/8-inch stubby format works well for lug nuts and general fastener work.
The setup can handle stubborn automotive fasteners like crank bolts and crusty exhaust bolts.
The compact M12 stubby can break loose difficult caliper bolts quickly and handle axle nuts without trouble.
Using adapters can reduce torque and may cost performance versus using the correct drive size.
The kit does not include a charger, so additional purchase may be required.
The 3/8-inch impact socket range can be limiting because many sets top out around 24mm.
Buying batteries from a non-authorized dealer may create warranty-related regret even when born-on dates are Milwaukee-covered.
