Decent CPU for chrome, 8GB RAM, actual ssd for storage, decent screen, Acceptable webcam.
Ports looks like 2 USB-A, 2 USB-C, 1 HDMI and 1 headphones port.
Touchscreen and backlit keyboard are nice to have, but not critical.
If you know what you're looking for you can find similar Chromebooks with slightly lower spec (CPU, SSD size, screen) for around $120-150 if you're willing to buy used instead of certified refurbished.
Up To you to decide if the extra $40-60 is worth it for a 2 year warranty and a better spec Chromebook.
If you think that this Chromebook will be well cared for, then this is a good deal.
If you think that this Chromebook will be dropped, lost or broken in the next year, I'd save some $$ and buy used.
Community Reviews
This refurbished Acer Chromebook Plus 514 stands out as a capable school and everyday laptop with an i3 N305, 8GB of memory, a 512GB SSD, a good screen, and a decent webcam. The touchscreen, backlit keyboard, USB C charging, and long battery life add to its appeal, and the ChromeOS update support runs through June 2033. It also looks clean for a refurb, with reports of brand new chargers and even zero battery cycles. The main caution is that it is plastic and only opens to 180 degrees, so it feels less premium than a convertible. A solid compact Chromebook if you want stronger specs and long support.
Common Questions (5)
It has an i3-N305, 8GB RAM, and a 512GB SSD, which is enough for schoolwork and everyday ChromeOS use. It can also run Minecraft or Roblox smoothly, and the hardware is described as fast and responsive.
Yes. The Acer Chromebook Plus 514 with the Intel i3-N305 is scheduled to receive ChromeOS automatic updates until June 2033, which makes it a strong long-term school option.
Yes, it can run Linux through Linux development mode on supported devices. The 512GB SSD is unusually roomy for a Chromebook, and Acer reportedly says the SSD can be replaced if you want more storage.
The certified refurbished units can arrive looking brand new, with reports of 0 battery cycles and very clean hardware. The main caveat mentioned is that the touchscreen opens 180 degrees rather than a 360-degree flip.
ChromeOS diagnostics are available under Settings > About ChromeOS > Diagnostics. Acer eBay support may not provide battery-health numbers directly, but the battery replacement option can be confirmed before purchase.

Usually, I contact the seller before I place an order of a laptop or a Chromebook.

*Notes:
For a certified refurbished, it looks brand new. Battery had 0 cycles.
For a plastic body, it feels pretty decent.
Touchscreen but only opens 180 (not a 360 flip).
Oddly doesn't advertise in descriptions, but it's a Chromebook Plus.
