Penguins is only not a great movie because of the same reason the Minion movie isn't - most of the time the background joke characters of a movie don't make a good movie. It is full of absolutely horrible puns though, so it's a fun lowbrow movie.
Others are just kinda there but I've never heard of the Ruby one.
