They definitely have some deals that are ads. I don't know if this one is, but 13 thumbs up is a decent amount before hitting front page.

well, this is known good brand sold at a known good store, and the discount rate is 50%. So at least for this thread, I have no concern.

RIP to the 2013 days of Slickdeals when the community actually drove the content and found phenomenal deals. Now it's just a mainstream machine. The front page is manipulated by staff to push affiliate links, and the private equity owners care way more about generating income than providing any real value to the members.

Anecdotal, but I ordered a different Patagonia Clearance jacket from REI on Tuesday. Got it today in less than 48 hours. It only had to move a few hundred miles.

Yep, the 3L construction on this is very solid for heavy rain. I used this in torrential rain and heavy winds in my trip to the Patagonia region along with the down sweater and it performed excellently. Kept very dry and warm.

Great. Do you think the combo can be as warm as most of the 3-in-1 jackets out there? And other thoughts about the comparison? I bought a Patagonia Powder Town 3-in-1 from REI, but once I got home and searched online for reviews, I noticed that the reviews are not great at all. I am thinking whether I should return it and buy this kind of combination. At least I can get real down inside and a good shell. The shortcoming is that the two don't work well together as well as the purposely designed 3-in-1. What is the best 3-in-1 out there and can this combination compare to it? Thanks.
