ThermoMaven X2 is a dual probe wireless meat thermometer that stands out for smoking and other long cooks, with a large screen and labeled probes that make it easy to track two meats at once. The probes are described as accurate enough for steaks, chicken, salmon, and brisket, and the price around $40 is repeatedly framed as strong value. The main catch is that this X2 model does not connect to a phone or app, unlike some ThermoMaven and Typhur models. It also has a few practical limits, including finicky charging and a probe that must be fully inserted to avoid heat damage.

  • Pitmasters smoking brisket overnight who want a large dual-probe display, because the unit keeps long cooks going without needing constant checks.

  • Grillers who do not need phone monitoring, because the probes and base work well for direct temperature tracking without app connectivity.

  • Steak cooks using horizontal probe placement, because the probe can fit fully in thin cuts when inserted sideways.

  • Home cooks tracking two cuts at once, because the labeled probes and single screen make it easy to tell readings apart.

If you are going to use this in the kitchen and for grilling, I'm sure this is fine. But my experience with wireless thermometers is that you want something that connects to WiFi. My use is generally with smoking meats, but I also use them for brewing beer. The benefit of seeing your temps remotely is next-level in time management. I'll do a 10-14 hour smoked brisket and I'm not sitting around waiting on that. But I do want to know what is going on, and having a WiFi-connected thermometer takes away a bunch of stress and effort by not having to physically go to the smoker and check. I can go out and know that my brisket is stuck and is going to take an extra hour or it's moving along faster than anticipated and I need to get back early and pull it from the heat. Price here is good for what it is, but I'd want more.

Looks dead to me $80?
I used Shahed-136. Played with it as many ways as I could. Refresh, manually typed, played with caps, no joy. Open for suggestions. EDIT.. But when I used FR6ZMGDD it worked. I have no idea where I got the original coupon code. Old timer disease I guess. Thank you OP.

Just got mine and realized they have so many different models. I thought I was getting the same exact options as the Typhur Sync Gold that I purchased 2 weeks ago. I bought two of them. I assumed this was the same thing just with two thermometers in one unit. However I just figured out by trying and reading the comments this X2 unit can not connect to the app. Which is a nice feature to have. Thermomaven also have 2 individual units. The P1 and the G1. Looks like both connect to the app but the G1 has a temp limit of 752 and the P1 has a limit to 572, even though the probes look identical. The G1 probes say Pro on them, I believe they have the sub G communication.
Looks like the Typhur Sync Gold that I got is identical to the Thermomaven G1. Then there is the Typhur Sync One and Sync One Pro. Its honestly ridiculous. Going to stick with my Typhur Sync Gold that I got for $25 each.

I just received this and don't understand how the 5 temp sensors in each probe work. There is only one temperature reading (outside of the ambient reading) for each probe. What does it do, average them together? There doesn't seem to be any way to read them individually.

This doens't connect to the App on your phone. So if seeing the temp of all 5 sensor or watching temp from your phone is important than stay with the Typhur Sync 1. Apparently Typhur has two models the Sync 1 and the Sync 1 pro. The Pro has sub G technology to transmit better.
To me from research its looks like the Typhur Sync 1 Pro, the Typhur Sync Gold, and the Thermomaven G1 are basically all the same. The Thphur Sync Gold and Thermomaven G1 are identical just different names on them. The Sync 1 Pro has the same features but a different looking base.
The Thermomaven G1 has been on sale for $30 and the Typhur Sync Gold has been on sale for $25. The Typhur Sync 1 (non pro) seems like not the best "Slickdeals" when the other models are available for cheaper.

So if you don't care about the App connectivity. Maybe this Thermomaven X2 model with sub G technology, 752 degree ambient temp, and 2 probes is a really good deal.

The "target reading" comes from the lowest reading among the 5 internal sensors (the system automatically follows whichever sensor becomes the lowest during the cook).

It says the probes are over 6 inches long and must be inserted all the way up to the indicator line. To me it sounds like these would be too long to use for chicken thighs. Anybody?

Seems like promo is dead. Was going to give it a try for smoking brisket.
